Splitting tree points in hunt

Is it unfair that I have exceptional hearing and can hear my dog while walking? It's not that loud, just average. What would be your vote in a cast if you heard your dog treeing-in the rain. And then when everyone stops you tree yours immediately the second you stop...but you have one that wants to split it.

As long as splitting that tree wasn't already being discussed and you just "suddenly heard your dog" I'd say your well within your right to tree for the whole 125, that's how the game is played "you hear your dog so tree him" IMO

Well I gave away a cast win then. Cause the other time the same thing happened it was raining and they went over a Ridge but I could hear mine treeing and thought I could hear two dogs with it... but turned out to be only one. Anyway they was standing there talking like they couldn't hear them and I said well mines treed so tree him and they backed. Drew out this time with the same guy again and while we were walking in the rain last night he asks are we going to get up here and if they are treed split points or go to hollering who's treed and I said well I don't know (but I had been listening to them treed for over a good 5 min) as soon as we stoped I treed him. But he wanted to split. So I guess I gave the win away. It wasn't a ukc hunt but still a deserved cast win. It was circle tree. He beat me on circle strike tie breaker. I would have won with most circle tree. The real kicker is the track they struck last, time ran out and he was the only one to put an end to it... 2 min after hunt time expired and had it as usual and I found it in a pine at that. So I would have had plus. Oh well.

I've drew a few with this exceptional hearing you are talking about. Problem is most the time I'm judge in and they seem to be the only one in the cast with this so called exceptional hearing. Me as a judge will not take the call unless I can hear the dog. It seems though everybody can hear their own dog but its seems harder to hear the next mans. Which I know is understandable being we hunt the dog and know what to listen for. But since garmin came into effect it seems a lot of guys have this exceptional hearing. Don't work with me though!!!!! Lol

Got to have your smart ***** in everything I guess. Funny thing not allowed to have your Garmin on in that registry and you don't have to have a Garmin when you pack a coon dog. Left ours in the truck because it was pouring rain also. But whatever. And no there is no rule where the judge doesn't have to hear it. I was the judge. And I heard it just fine. Wanted some serious response as to what you would do in the situation. Not you flip it around and make it like I'm a liar and a cheat.

Having exceptional hearing is a gift. It's like great eyesight. Great hand to eye coordination. It's one of the things that separate the gifted from us average people. People with these gifts have advantages like great athletes. It's what makes some folks winners. What good are they if you're not allowed to use them? I hunted with a man who said he couldn't competition hunt because he couldn't hear good enough. Should he have gone anyway asked the others to split all points because he couldn't hear?

i agree.. if you had already decided to split then thats a deccision that should b stuck with.. an if you stop an only one dog treeing then that man should b loud to tree his dog.. as for the garmin.. if a man trees his dog off a garmin he has something wrong.. i love the fact that you can use them, cuz if you are walking away from a dog you can see where he is at

99% I bet their Garmin 'buzzed' in their pocket and then they look at it.

If I tree mine while walking, we are going to stop so the judge can hear it. I aint into splitting points

Really,if I'm not mistaken I'm the man that was on both cast. I'm the one that asked about splitting the points because I personally didn't think you could hear yours and I didn't want you to feel cheated by me. Could I hear mine treed oh yea I could, but now I see how trying to be fair turns on someone when cast doesn't go there way. I'll judge if we draw again my hearings pretty dang good so feel free to call him at anytime...

Need to get both sides of the circumstance at hand. Cause it seems like a reoccurring situation. Happened to me in a pkc hunt also except it wasn't raining. I could hear mine deep and there's no way the other man could hear his cause mine drowned his out...and he's not that loud. We walked for 15 min and I heard him the whole time. They kept stopping to listen and they made it out like they went over 10 hollers and couldn't hear them. Well, they wasnt. In return I didn't want to tree him and "them not hear him", put two on him, and try to minus me. Well anyway we stopped one more time and I said to myself the next time we stop I'm going to tree mine cause they are bound to hear him then. So we started to stop and before we even got remotely stopped to hear he could hear the roar and a guy treed his a fraction of a second before me. Pitched his cause I know for a fact I could only hear mine. I didn't argue a word about it either. So that cost me another win. Moral of the story is in a situation like that do you do what I did or would it be better to tree him when I hear him and them turn around like they can't hear him and try to minus me??? Everyone deserves to win if they have a pretty good dog. I'm not mad over not getting the win, I'm mad about the situation...but 3 times in a row will kinda be seen as a reoccurring problem in most people's eyes. I got 1/3 that technically i should have had. Mine isn't the best dog in the country but he is awfully nice for 2 year old. Very accurate. He's a 2nd strike dog and 1st tree. Everytime. I've got to have my tree points. 2nd and 2nd don't get you wins. And Kevin you have to admit he was the dog of the cast finishing that track the other two couldn't. He treed the only coon that night that I seen. I would say the first one was there too but still. I'm not mad over the win. I just want to know the best way to handle a situation like that

I just explained that above. Because some people will make you point to the exact tree it's on, claim they can't hear it, put two min on it......and minus you! Yes it's hard for me not to tree him when I hear him for sure. You can ask any of the people that's ever hunted with me pleasure hunting whatever and they will ask how the hell I hear the dogs. My eyes ain't that great but I sure can hear. Lol

So the whole cast was against you? Everytime somebody loses the cast had it out for him. It runs the newbys off from the comp hunts hearing all the negative stuff. If I hear my dog Im going to tree em. You can do a lot of walking in 2 minutes. If they cant hear them after that then Im minused and Ill tree them again.

I don't know anything about your situation but its like this. If you all have agreed to split point then they are split. If you haven't agreed to it then tree your dog, but if you have agreed to it and you tree anyway that's a real a$$hole thing to do.

Right. I guess the answer to my problem is just tree him when I hear him and take the chance of the rest of the cast not hearing him and get minused on the 2. That's all I can do. But then I'll probably be right back here on this post telling you how that happened cause I'll guarantee you that it will happen sooner or later. They will play it out like they don't hear mine. Then right after I'm minused and we get closer, they will tree theirs. Looks like a lose lose situation to me. Just hope they get treed where you can hear them good

He's a nice dog Michael. The dog I hunted the other night is not ready for the hunts I only hunted because yall needed a guide and it's my local club. Next time try to come when it's not raining so we can really tell what's going on and I hope my little black female out of heat be hole different cast.
