This day is for those who gave their greatest sacrifice to protect this great nation. Yes it is ok to thank a Veteran, Active Military personnel but Memorial Day is their day our Day is November 11th.

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.

Congress went to the President and ask for an official day of Honoring those who had given the ultimate sacrifice for this country but also ask that this day be one that all Americans pray for peace. I wonder how many serving in Congress today and the man in the White House know this fact.
