I'm no trainer.
I've had good luck with putting out feeder buckets. Seems to help build confidence faster since your turning them out on a hot track. Like anything, to much of a good thing can be bad. And also every critter in the woods has left a track from that bucket. You can also turn them out away from the bucket and see if they run the track backwards. I'd say if your hound is going 3 miles to tree one, a bucket or two would help out some. Just my 2 cents. Good luck.
