4 to 6 times a month is not near enough in my book, when I start a pup, I try to hunt them 1hr a night 4 to 6 times a week but that just me, for 2 to 3 months straight. That being said, I would expect her to be begin ranging once she knows what her job is, is capable of treeing coon. Her desire to tree coon, should begin to take over, and she forgets about being afraid in the woods. Over time they will check in less and less. Very few go like the dickens right from the gecko.
There are a lot of dogs out there that lack hunt but do have a lot of competition. They will hunt hard in a cast, but won't hunt alone. There are others that are the opposite, they hunt there best alone, but put in a cast won't want to hunt. Then there are lazy dogs, ones that just lack drive period. With out spending time with the dog it's impossible for any of us to tell what's going on. Only you can determine, what the issue is.
