Walker Dogs

Is it just me or are walker dogs starting to look, sound and act more like hound dogs? What has happened? Where have all the short eared, chop mouth, hot nosed, super quick tree dogs gone? I have started seeing long legged, lanky, houndy looking walkers that have a cold nose, bawl on track and have a long bawl locate. I am starting to see a lot of accurate walker dogs again that aren't super fast but are mostly by themselves. What is happening? Blueticks are starting to act like walkers and walkers are starting to act like blueticks. I don't understand it.

This must be a personal perspective thing. Last week there was a thread that asked where were all of the houndy Walkers. I don't get out much, but I see all different types of Walkers and blue ticks.

Walker dogs

Some of these top reproducers have been around long enough that they are starting to get watered down,

They have always been around. I don't hunt walker hounds anymore and most likely never will but I had a few super coon treers. At the local UKC level you don't see many guys putting a dog in the woods alone 5 nights a week for several weeks.

Most dogs regardless of breed never meet their full potential because hunters won't hunt alone and put the time into one.

that almost perfectly describes bubba. hes a walker male at stud in north Georgia. Not your typical treeing walker
