injured leg

I've got a 2 year old dog that's holding his hind right leg up I.hunted him Thursday night for.about 2 hours and.he was fine then Friday he started holding his leg up I've checked his pad and pulled his leg out and he never made a noise any ideas of what he might of done or what y'all would do if he's still holding it Monday I'm gonna take him to the vet I walked him around the yard and he would put it down just not while he's standing

The pad doesn't have to be cracked to make him hold it up if it just gets dry and rough it will get sore. I had a cur that used to get dry pads all the time. I used to rub vasoline on his pads before I took him out and when I brought him back in.

the way these dogs run throught the jungle with complete abandon, it is a wonder that they don't kill them selves. my dogs are frequently limping the day after a hunt. they don't even think about it while they're hunting but later it bothers them. i don't know how they keep from getting their eyes gouged out.
