I tried a bag of the Joy Special Meal and found it to be a poor feed in my opinion. I currently feed The Orange bag of Pride and personally I think is the best feed for my hounds.

Joy.......

In my opinion, ANY Joy product is nothing but Junk. I have used about every product they make, you would be a lot better off to feed Ol' Roy from Walmart.

I have heard a lot of good reports on Victor. However we have no local dealers and I am not gonna drive a hour or so out of my way to purchase it lol. Around here close it's Purina, Pride, Diamond, or Joy.

Well maybe for you it is enough said. I fed pro plan for three years and it is good feed but full of corn. At least the sport that most people feed is. I switched a year ago to Taste of the Wild and there really isn't a comparison.

Support those who support you. The sport is stretched for sponsors, and Purina is a very very large supporter. We should take that into account when we look for products, including food, when it is of high quality, and Purina is.

By the way, does corn kill dogs? I would surely hate to see where we would get our beef and other food products from without the feeding of corn. Sure it may cause the dog to run a little hot in the summer, but with some water taken to the woods, they do fine. Yes, I hunt in 90 degree weather down here.

I agree they support our sport, because it is good for their business not out of the goodness of their hart. Joy supported us for years, in my opinion black gold does way more for us then Purina does. Victor is an excellent dog food and also supports us. Has corn killed dogs? Ya it has I lost 2 dogs to the diamond recall. There is better out there some are better then what I am feeding right now. My advise to everyone is to feed the best you can afford be it Purina, ol roy or what ever else. I'm always looking for something that will do a better job for my dogs that doesn't break the bank. To tell you the truth all of them are getting way to expensive. They keep making the bags smaller and raising the prices.

I was feeding my dogs the Diamond Maintance but dogs were overheating on it,,even on the first drop,,changed to the Diamond Naturals, lamb meal & rice formula and now dogs can hunt all night without overheating,,I always knew corn in feed would make them alittle warm,,but man,,what a difference between the two

Diamond makes all different grades of food...

When it comes to dog food you get what you pay for.

Taste of the wild is some pretty good stuff..
That being said, I just ordered a bag of eagle pack power adult, supposedly it is very well respected in sled dog circles, and its a little cheaper then taste of the wild.

Oh, I know.. I'm not knocking it, I've fed it and feed 4health to some of my dogs now. If it's stated that they're a hated company, don't feed any of their products then. Some people don't realize they produce it.

I can not chance my hounds life on anything coming from a Diamond plant. It isn't the corn that caused those dog deaths, but the cleanliest and way the corn itself was treated before processing. They may make good feed, but all the recalls and deaths associated with Diamond leads me to think they need some big changes in the way they do business. In the last 10 years, when you hear a recall, it normally has something to do with them. NOPE, at no price will I take the chance, even if they came an offered me a year of free food, its still no thanks. I'll stick with the one everyone tries, and always compares to: PURINA.

PS: I put absolutely no weight at all in those dog food advisor things. The best advisor in the world is your dog, and mine have performed at their best on pro plan, and they love it. Any company can buy an opinion for publishing with enough money paid out. Yes, PURINA can do that too, if they want, but why would they? Everyone is comparing to them. They don't need to advertise. Others do it for them, which leaves more money to sponsor dog events. Where is wild taste in event sponsorships?
