I didn't have the up land, but I had the pro 500,,my knob on top had letters N and A and numbers 1 thru 6,on the side it had green button,a 3 position switch for whatever dog you wanted, another switch to choose from cont. to mon. and 2 black buttons,,,the N on knob is to kill all power so you didn't accidentally shock dog,and A was to turn on tracer light if you had it,and 1 thru 6 was the level of juice you wanted to send to your dog,,green button on side is for the tone,,but must be on 1 thru 6 on top knob to work,,the black button are to activate (send the juice) to the dog,top one is low, bottom one is medium and push both at same time for high,,hope this helps

Mine has 0-T-1-2-3-4----10. If like that just put knob on the T,;Which is tone only. The black buttons are for 2 collars...but u may have a one collar model im thinkin. Mine has 2 buttons also but only is a dog.

.

What makes answering these questions hard if not impossible is the age of the Transmitter. About everyone out there has the same name for at least two generation of systems. Like the G2 and G3 both had Trashbreakers, Classic 70' and on and on.

How new your upland special is will be the key to answering your question.
If I was you I would do a search for owners manual for upland special and match yours to the pictures you see. Then print out the manual and you will have every answer possible answered for your system.

Here is an example of a search I just did for you.

Owners Manuals & Product Guides | TriTronics

Customer Service Owners Manuals & Product Guides ... Trashbreaker Ultra XL, Flyway Special XL, Upland Special XL, Pro 100 XL, Pro 200 XL, Pro 500 XL.

After looking at the owners manual i figured out mine actually came with a beeper not a toner. I bought it used and didnt come with one. Not sure if i should try to buy a beeper or just use it like is. Not even for sure what the beeper for.

The beeper is to find the dog on point in heavy brush.
