I've got a 9 month old that will not Load in the truck. The truck is high but all the other dogs make it up there so he should to. But he refuses to jump up there and im gettin tired of picking him up he's go old for that. Any advice on how to get him to Load would be appreciated thanks

Put what he really likes to eat in the box let him see u do it he will learn fast always feed my pups in the box while they are young they get use to it fast.

When I started loading my pup at 6 months I always loaded him behind my old dog. I would slap the tailgate and say load up then drag him into the truck by his collar. I never picked him up and set him in. Only took dragging him twice. Now he loads whenever I say load up. But some dogs are just stupid lol

What I do is pretty similar to what Ryan is saying. I start 12 ft or so from the tail gate get a short hold on the leash, get the dog started toward the tail gate, saying load as the dog runs toward the tail gate, when it's time to jump heave on the lead just enough to make the dog clear the tail gate. It won't look very graceful at first but you will feel the dog contribute to the jump with it's legs after just a few times and eventually it will load on command.

We Park the Truck by the Kennels in Dog Yard and put their food on the tail gate. We do that for several days until they load up several times on their own.

Start with the dog box low... maybe a couple concrete block or even a pallet. And use treats. I always had great luck when I started with the box just a couple inches off the ground then move it to the back of the truck when they get the idea.

I did have an old dog hurt himself jumping on a couple years ago and started lifting him on and off after that but other than an old dog that needs it "and has earned it" I don't ever lift them. Not that there's anything wrong with it if you don't mind doing it, "like you said just my preference"

I usually give them a box or something to jump up off of at first. If they learn to do that I just move the block and keep the same habit. once they load once and I know they can do it, no more reason to let them get away with not doing it.
As with most commands you have to make it not a question or an option...Its not "hey pal, you wanna load up"....I say load once....then its load the $&%&%^&* up"....and they load one way or the other.

i thought my walker i would grab his collar and the loose skin by his tail and say load up as i tossed him in the bed, He must of not liked it cause about the 4th time i went to do this and i said load up and reached for him he was up in the bed ready to go.

lol I've never minded putting a good dog in the truck , but note I said good dog '' ol '' average joe better jump . I will usually just hook them to the back of my truck with their food and water in the bed out of reach . they never went thirsty or hungry . they learn pretty quick . if my beagles could load then them full grown hounds should easily make it .
