Have you ever raised a litter of pups off him? Where do you live at I can't remember? He is a NICE looking dog!!!
Thank you Mr Watson, I get that alot about him, and yes he has been bred to twice, once on my female and once on a bear hunters female in WV, a Rambo gyp. I am just a little to the east of my West Virginia brothers in steep foot hills near I 64. You still got that Cameron gyp I inquired about some time back?
Thanks to all for the kinds words and p.m's most questions will be answered on this post as I hate alot of p.m.ing.
Jerry Sitlow had a nice hound out of Lewey, Rock maybe and has the titles. Jerry Sitlow is super nice man and a pleasure to talk to, I haven't talked to him in a few yrs thou. His number is posted above by T-Monroe.
Below is a video of Johnny pups at around 3 months old or not much more as you can see by there size in relation to the cage and coon. It was the 1st coon they ever seen, just on a walk thru the woods where I sat a trap. I only kicked on the cage because is was a bit hot that day and I had to run back to the house to get my cell phone to record it. Not one pup followed me or left the cage and I was quite winded as it was almost a mile round trip for me.
The dogs in the photos are around 5 months old at the time of the photo. In the group photo, I still own the 4 dogs to the right. The two on the left were sold to the same man, he is a bear hunter like myself and he says he is very pleased with them. Another man bought a male as a pup and from what I understand was pulling hair off a bear at 9 months old. They are just turning a yr now. I still have 2 males and 2 females from this cross, one male is currently for sale. One female was to go to a gentlemen up north but things never panned out so I got stuck with her, they are very nice looking females much like the males, tight footed and looks to spare. Neither females out of this litter is for sale.
She had a total of 14 pups, 10 born live, one got stuck the she killed 2 trying to deliver the stuck one, and the 3 other in her, which left 8, 1 died from a chill I guess the other 7 seven I hand raised until she came home a week later from the vet. She never produced much milk after that but she did clean the pups and such. Which is quite a job as anyone knows that has ever had to do it by hand, alot of work goes into feeding and making a pup poop.
I got pic's of all of them thru out there life, just not on photo bucket but will share the ones that I do, they are all males except 2 in the group photo.
I got two females in heat now but decided not to bred them until later in Aug or Sept. I like winter pups. I usually have pups once a yr or so and have for quite sometime, these pups are the nicest acting pups I have ever raised, they ate together played and such with no major problems. Most of this I credit Johnny for. However all my dogs are out of Izzy,( my lead female) except Johnny and a female that is out of her daughter.
I do very little coon hunting any more and Johnny is pretty much retired so to say. I wish I could finish him out but what I pay in vet bills, feed, and dog related items it would be rather hard to finish him out around these parts, not many hunts here. I tried it when he was young once or twice, wasn't really my thing.
I take him out every so often its pretty much routine, unsnap, lock the doors, go to the tree. No point in carrying a gun he has nothing to do with a dead one. I do not hunt him hard like the other dogs I own.
Johnny On The Spot is not currently advertised at stud and if studded out it would be by private agreement to approved Registered females only or any female that has come from my kennel. Especially you Dustin, if you are reading Then again you may want to wait for Johnny x Dottie? Either female would be super hot cross IMO.
The male in the last photo is for sale. He has filled out a little more than in the pic.
