How much has she been in the woods? Has she been hunted with other dogs?

Well I was gonna say she may not be comfortable in the woods yet but that knocks that one out.

I've never hunted a redbone but I have heard they sometimes start slow. Good luck with her.

What was your hunting like with her all this time? Did you just let her follow you along and keep walking? If so it may be man made. She may be doing what you led her to believe was what you wanted.

Not many three month olds are going to go out hunting. If you took her out often as a pup, you might have inadvertently trained her to walk with you. Remember, dogs learn by repetition.

That's a very good point "I thought I was the only one that worried training that into a young pup"
I have a 5 month old I started taking to the woods about a month ago. Iv'e been taking her out with my squirrel dog. I don't really want to get her treeing squirrels if I can keep from it but it sure works nice for getting her away from my feet. He's about a 300-400yrd kinda dog. She goes right out with him. I figure when things start thawing out around here she'll be 6months+. Then i'll start running her at night with a walker.

If the drive to hunt isn't there I don't know what to say about that except she might be a dud. Iv'e seen a lot of dogs get a boot in the *ss for that but in my oppinion it doesn't do a bit of good. If the drive to hunt isn't there all you get from kicking them or switching them is a dog that stays 50yrds away and shadows you.
I'm not much for overdoing it with the caged coon but in this case it sounds like she's about reached the end of the rope anyhow. It's hard to ruin something that's already broken. I think I would try showing her a few caged coon. Litterrally turn the coon loose in front of her the 1st time 2. Get her chasing then start just laying tracks without showing her the coon and see if she'll trail. None of that's stuff I would start off with on a good pup but i'll go that root before giving up. JMHO

have one here that acted the same way till about 15 months. Wouldn't even go with another dog .Was ready to cull him .One nite I took him with my old gyp and he ran and treed with her . Hes now past 2 now and hunts good with another dog but by his self wont hunt out more than 80-90 yards . It is what it is. Some just don't seem to have the drive alone.
