A lot of dogs go missing and stay missing because people don't know where to look.
First, make sure you've checked your local shelter. You need to go there yourself--half the time they get the breeds of dogs wrong and if you ask if they have any redbones there over the phone, he may be there but they don't know he's a redbone.
Second, make sure your local animal control knows you're looking, even if he isn't licensed. You may have to license him to get him back, but they'd rather get a lost dog back home than impound them.
Third, make up posters and flyers and put them at the post office, at any bulletin boards in nearby stores, etc. Its best to use neon bright paper. Put them on phone poles near stop signs, where drivers have a better chance to read them, and give them to all the local vets' offices. People who take in stray dogs usually bring them into a vet to get checked out.
Look on local lost pet websites. There are a lot of these. Craigs List usually has a section for this kind of stuff. Most states have a site called "Lost Pets of _______" Google for that.
I'll share this with a rescue site that specializes in hounds.
Most importantly, keep looking!
And, when you get him back, update his collar and put a microchip in!
