So here's the story and I appreciate the congrats !



Well it was foggy damp morning with the temps dropping into the 40's so I thought they might move a little later this morning. So I called off work and headed for my favorite stand.



It's in a giant oak tree and up 28 feet on the high side and about 36 feet on the low side which is actually a small shelf along a small ravine that is littered with oaks. And the oaks were dropping acorns like crazy. I had noticed that while walking out from a different area of the property on Saturday morning.



Of course it got light later than usual with the fog but around 7:30 a small buck came by at about 50 yards. I'm pretty sure a few others went by just out of sight earlier just before dawn.

The squirrels were out in full force as well which caused a constant ruckus.....



Around 8:00 a ruckus behind me continued for longer then had been so I peered around the huge oak to see a tree top thrashing wildly. As it continued for about 20 seconds I knew a buck was rubbing that tree but it was too thick to see the actual deer. A few seconds later a fork horn wandered into few about 20 yards away.



I was a little disappointed and was ready to sit down when I saw a huge rack appear behind the fork horn. He came right in to 7 yards, down wind and I used my Bear Carnage with a T3 broadhead to put him down. Because of the height of the stand and how close he was (basically right under me) I put the arrow right beside his spine on his right side and it lodged in his brisket close to his left arm (leg) pit. He basically dropped where he stood after rearing up and falling over backwards.



I'm very thankful to have been able to kill to this buck!

My dad took down a nice buck that he had nick named "the caribou buck" yesterday morning!!! Good job dad!!!!

darn nice bucks. We got some nice Ohio Big Bucks on camera but I'v e yet to get a deer tag and go, giving my son time to get one before I get serious. Plus been working a lot of hours and trying to keep my pup in the timber, its hard to do everything. Again Congrads.!

I have a camera in the area but have not been getting much. They just harvested the crops this week. It was just breaking daylight and a little forkie walked right under my stand and was being entertained by that. He passed by and was texting a buddy about the experience when I looked up and see this guy standing in a picked bean field. I grunted and he came swaggering in, he stopped about 50 yards and worked over a tree then proceeded up to the ridge I am sitting on. He got about 35 yards and made a scrape. I gave a single grunt and he again started walking toward me. He stopped at 15 yards behind a tree and got skittish, he ran about another 10 yards and stopped looking back. I had to use my pin lights as it was 0715. He did not go 70 yards and piled up. He really put a show on for me. Our area has been devastated in the last couple years by EHD, I feel very lucky to harvest a mature buck.

Dandy deer Justus. I shot this 10 point last night in Ohio 100 yards behind my house. He's not a monster but I grunted him in from 100 yards away and couldn't pass him up. With my work schedule and time change I wouldn't get to hunt much so I took the shot

Count the wrinkles at the base of his ears. That will be dead on most times. I didnt believe it either till we went to a local check station. Started counting and they'd pull the jawbone and get same age. 8 out of 10 times anyhow. Congrats on yalls kills.
