Young Prospects

Let's hear about your youngins that are up and coming.

I've got one I call Rocket - `PR`Ruf's Blue Iron Rocket. He's off Mighty Blue Rufus x Blue Iron Panic. Just turned 14 months old. I'm not going to brag him up and make myself look like a fool, but he is learning to use the tools he has. He does things you just can't teach a pup to do. He's independent and got a horn to boot. In the last month he's flat walked me to death a couple of times. I'm excited for what the future holds with him. I love taking him to the woods, he's at the stage where he just gets better every time out. I'm also pretty excited because my 3 year old son likes to go hunting with me, and when Rocket does good he pats him on the head and tells him good job.

My Project

I've got a promising young 9 month old female out of Jet 5 Again and Bailliff's Jet Blue Sadie. She's got a nice mouth and is a classy tree dog for the most part. She'll start to chew a little when the shooting starts but other than that I have no complaints. I'm pretty pleased with this little girl. She looks better every night out and is starting to really put it all together. I've also got her sister and she's sharp as a tack. Starting a little later, and not as good of a mouth but she's my buddy and I enjoy having her around.

1st and 1st on my old dog with the coon

Roscoe P. Coldtrail is just going on 10 months. He's got Smoky River on both sides and his great grand sire on his fathers side was McAvoys Blue River Droop. He started treeing squirrels around the yard as a pup. He ran and treed for the first time at night in December just before he turned 9 months, and then the next 4 or 5 times out after that. Always to a den. Has not run any deer as far as i have been able to tell, although hes messed with a rabbit and a flying squirrel or two. Each time out he works harder. He's been hunted with other dogs only twice. Sunday night was the second time and also only the second coon he's seen. When I shot it out he went totally nuts. He is really a well bred natural treedog and i am super excited for what the future will bring. One thing we need to work on is getting him to just run out and hunt on his own. He hunts close to medium, but i had no other dog to work him with so he is used to me tagging along. Now if the weather will ever warm up...We were only able to get out twice in January cause its been so **** cold!

I have a little male that is 7 months old out of Piazon and Dizzie. He is a real nice little dog with a big loud mouth and good confirmation. He is just about ready to start, loves people and never barks in the kennel. Seems to learn fast what I don't want him to do. Something tells me that might not last too much longer...but for now he's good. Loves to eat. I think I could get him to shuffle a deck of cards for a piece of meat!!! I also have a real nice female off of Ramblin Blue Junior and Mead's Blue Hope that is turning the crank. See below, she is a lock down tree dog that likes to get toenailed. She has a deep male dog voice and gives no locate...sounds the same on track and tree so she's hard to call, but no one else will benefit from her work. She just turned 12 months old and is always ready for the woods. She is a touch lankier than I like, but for the "all business" way she hunts i'll take that trade!! High hopes for both of these blue dogs. Good luck to all and good hunting!!!
