Looking to switch to a little bigger Watt radio for my truck I have been looking at the 75W Yeasu 2900R do any of you use this & what else is compairable in performance & Price? Also do you need to buy the programing kit with it or can you just hand program it thru the mic?

what you use your radio for. We use Marine radios here when we are coyote hunting that way we don't get any interference from other radios.

I use the Yeasu 2900 and l like it. Some of the guys I hunt with use Kenwoods or iCom's. If you buy them new they will need to be opened up to be able to transmit on marine frequencies. They will receive on them but not transmit. Programing is pretty easy with the Yeasu either with the mic or through the tune knob. I also like that you can name the channels. Hope this helps

I have sold over 100 Yeasu Radios this year to Deer Hunters down here in the South. They are good radios. Keep the power turned down when using your Garmin around them.

Marine Radios run on the same frequencies as the vhf radios. 136-174.

Right now there is a $40 mail in rebate on the 2900 model and the 1900 model has $30 rebate. I personally like the 1900 model better as peaking out at 55 watts is all the power I ever need. When using with garmin it is turned down to 5 watts

I have saw several places have them at $195 plus the rebate is this the best price on them? Bruce what do you sell them for? Thanks & I will order from you if your price is compairable as I have ordered from you before & had good service.

Until two weeks ago I was selling the 2900 for $230 plus you get the rebate. Mine have been opened up. If you purchased one from your link you would then have to find a CB shop to modify them and that generally cost 10-30 bucks.
With a price increase last week I have had to raise my price on the 1900 to $220 and the 2900 to $250

I really only sell them as a service to my Deer Hunting Customers in the area as there is no money to be made on them. My comment was not to sell any but to let people know I have sold plenty with excellent reports on them.

I also highly recommend if you get one and your group is using them. Apply to the FCC of a license which cost very little.

I've got a icom 2200 in one truck and a 2300 in another. And a couple icom v80 handhelds. I would consider the yaesu's to be of equal quality. I just bought the icoms because I have never had problems with previous radios. Icom 2200/2300 are 65 watt output on high on down to 5 on low.
If you want handhelds I had a real problem removing the antenna nut on the last v80 I bought but a friend bought a new yaesu 270 at the same time and it was simple simple to mod. I've got the mod intructions for all these radios if you need them
