.

Not sure if this is still true but how you and your partner are defined on the papers make a difference.

Mr. Smith AND Mr. Jones means both have to sign for the sale of the dog.

Mr. Smith OR Mr. Jones either one can sign for the sale of the dog.

Not sure how UKC will works this out but in other registries you have to get a kennel membership and that membership is important as it defines who will be responsible for profit of the dogs winnings to the IRS.

Nothing is easy anymore. Good Luck! I have the best partners in the world on a couple hounds and it still makes it interesting.

That would be a good question for Todd? If partners win a bunch of money in the some of your money hunts, who is responsible to the IRS for claiming it.

This is no longer the case Bruce.
How it is done now is there is the "Sole Signatory" and then there is everyone else who has their name(s) on the papers. The Sole Signatory is the legal owner of the dog. The others listed as co-owners have no legal ownership. At least that is how it was explained to me.

.

Thanks. I spend more money on dog papers than I should. Can't keep up. If anyone thinks DNA Profiles are pretty and wants to decorate their walls with some I have them at half price. Thats only if it is legal to sell them for wall decorations. I know back in the 60's the hip crowd would of loved them on their walls and when they put the black lights on they would think colored worms were crawling around!!

The only legal owner UKC recognizes is the Sole Signatory and I believe that person is responsible for any tax bite.
