I always felt like Nite Heat himself was a smart dog. I got to hunt with him a few times and always wanted one off him. Two things I remember about him that were different from most hounds. 1) he was a good tree dog but when you arrived at the tree he would stop treeing and be looking up watching for the coon to fall. 2) if the coon was out on a limb a ways, he would typically be right under it. Never understood how he could be so accurate doing that. Just something different that made an impression on me. Of all the big name dogs I got to hunt with he was one of my favorites. I don't remember how well he reproduced. That was a long time ago.
