Question for Stud Dog owners

If someone wants you to breed a female coon hound of another breed to your stud dog are you willing to do it?

If a man wants to try a crossbreeding I don't have a problem with it. I'm going to try it myself. To each his own.

I understood what he said lol i wouldnt breed to anything i wouldnt want a pup from. This is just how i do it. To me if more folks would hunt what they breed there would be lots less breeding going on. Quality not quantity! Jmo

How do you feel about it John?

I know its not the popular thing to do and it sure isnt going to put any money in our pockets but its just how i feel about it. Other than bringing in an outcross here and there you have never seen me hunt anything other than what Larry or myself have raised from a pup. I dont see that changing any time soon either. We kind of like these junky potlickers we have lol

I would like to have the problem of having a blue male that was nice enough to have the owner of a nice female from another breed want to consider using him

Talking

Maybe the guy is wanting to improve his line by breeding to one of you guys studs that said no. You don't have to hunt one of them. Yes i would let someone breed to mine if I had one but I don't.

Just an opinion

You will either jump on the boat and breed to em or sit on the bank and watch it go buy. Have fun in the shade.

Thanks for the responses. I was just thinking that with the X breed that this was a decision that some stud dog owners will have to make. I'm sure some will breed and some won't. I'll personally cross that bridge when and if the time comes, just wanted to see how others felt.

An English guy approached me last year about breeding his Gr Nt female to one of my dogs. He wanted to hunt with my male and we just never did get together to make it happen because I didn't make it a priority. He owned a grandsire of one of the english dogs that won the UKC World a few years ago and he said that dog had some Bluetick in him because they had bred english to blueticks in the past and then used the single registration process to get them registered as English. With the X breed now making the process of registering cross bred easier, I figure there will be some people wanting to breed to some Blue studs.

Well I agree with some of what has been said by many.... The way I feel is this. Like Eddy I hunt what I breed, and I breed for what I want to hunt. So that bein said, I guess it would depend on what the cross was....... If I wanted to make a cross I would. I'm not particularly fond of the X bred idea..... But...... If I decided I wanted too...........I would.
