It is with great pride that Plus Point English presents a hound that has a lot to offer the English breed.

GR CH GR NITE CH PKC CH All Grand Yogi is not the best hound in the country, he isn't the prettiest you will ever see nor is he the best bred dog available now or in the future. However, he is very good in all phases of the game when it comes to his ancestral bloodline, ability and his overall confirmation.

Let's highlight each and see what Yogi can offer your breeding program.

LOOKS: Yogi is a dark redtick colored English hound with very good confirmation. He is a UKC Grand Show Champion with good feet, long legs and a muscular, clean body. He has a blocky hound head with a good ear set and broad square muzzle. He is built the way a hound should be and not hard on the eyes when you look at him.

BREEDING: I will describe Yogi's bloodline with more detail in future posts. Yogi is one of very few studs available with a five generation all grand pedigree. How many English males can lay claim to having a five generation all grand pedigree? Not very many! The best part is most of his ancestors read like a "Who's Who" of the English breed. His pedigree is loaded with present and future hall of famers of the English breed. He also has many ancestors that have been on UKC's current and historical top reproducers list.

ABILITY: As mentioned previously, Yogi is a UKC Dual Grand Champion having completed both his Grand Nite and Grand Show degrees. He is also a PKC Champion and is currently in the top ten open money earned for the English breed in CHKC open events for the 2014 season.

The best part about Yogi's ability is he is a pleasure to hunt. He's the type of hound that you cannot wait until it gets dark to take him hunting. He has an incredibly clear and booming bawl mouth on track, locates with a dying bawl locate with one chop followed by a second dying bawl locate rolling over into a hard steady chop like you see in the video posted below.

Yogi currently has 26 puppies on the ground from three litters. I have already had good reports on his pups and know he is going to reproduce nice young hounds that will continue to carry this strong bloodline.

Note the ad states Yogi has three wins. He was high scoring dog of hunt and received his fourth Nite Champion win at the Jennings, Oklahoma hunt on June 14th. This win was after the deadline for getting the ad submitted to the magazine.

Yogi's sire is GR NITE CH 'PR' MOORE'S HARDTIME ALL GRAND HORN owned by Ken Johnson from Tully, New York. Horn is currently 9th on UKC's Current Top Reproducing English Males list and should climb higher as more puppies are finished out. Horn was one of the pups in Rev. Richard Moore's first all grand litter.

Also pictured in the ad with Horn is GR NITE CH 'PR' NORTHHILL FOREST GU-MP. He is a littermate brother to Yogi and currently standing at stud with Horn in New York. More about Gu-mp and others from this outstanding cross later.

Behind almost every good stud you will find a very strong mother and Yogi is no different. Dual Grand Champion 'PR' English Pride's Little Liz is owned by Bobby Williams from South Carolina. She is the foundation of all the dogs in Bobby's English Pride Kennel. She would be on UKC's Current Top Reproducing English Females list if she had whelped the minimum number of pups required to be on this list. Besides Yogi and previously mentioned Forest Gu-mp, Liz is also the mother of GR NITE CH 'PR' HEIDI'S NOCTURNAL AFFAIR, NITE CH 'PR' LITTLE HORN AND CH NITE CH 'PR' ENGLISH PRIDE'S MR. BIG. Factor in that Liz has had fifteen pups from three litters, it becomes obvious her reproducing percentage of champions (33%) is outstanding.

I do not know what more could be said that hasn't already been said about Cat. He was owned by Rev. Richard Moore in New York and has left a solid foundation of "Cat" blood for many generations to come. Cat is currently listed at #4 on the Historical Top Producing English Males list. From the ten males on that list, Cat has the highest percentage of champions produced of all of them at 16.52%

According to UKC, Cat has produced 332 permanently registered pups with 39 Nite Champions and 34 more earning their Grand Nite Championship degree. This amount will continue to climb as Cat still has some young sons and daughters who haven't completed their quest for championship status and as more puppies are produced from Cat's frozen semen.

Currently, the winningest son of Cat is GR NITE CH 2012 PKC WORLD CH HARDTIME AWESOME. Barring injury, Awesome will pass Gamble's Hillbilly Mike as the all time money winning English in PKC history.

I have more to come. I am working on getting some material together on Rat Poison right now. I will post it when I have it ready.

One of the things I like about Yogi's pedigree is that most of his ancestors were out of litters that had brothers and sisters in those same litters that made their mark on the English breed as well. Or, they produced a litter that had multiple winners and not just a "one hit wonder" so to speak.

I am getting off subject of this thread a little bit now but that is one of the reasons why I like the Gun dog that Larry Wilcox has. He has a bunch of proven winners behind him in his pedigree, but the best part, is he is out of a cross with a lot of brothers and sisters that have performed well too.

Yogi is still here and doing well. I haven't entered him in a hunt since June, but will get his last win after my kids football season concludes. Yogi is now a PKC Champion. He made the final cast at the Beggs, OK hunt last night pushing his earnings high enough to be a champion in PKC.

Next up is his last UKC Nite Champion win to finish him to dual grand. I figured we would have had a chance to get that win back in November, but my oldest son's team went deeper in the state football playoffs than anyone expected. By the time we finished up with football, most of the hunts were over and done with.

My oldest son plans to hunt Yogi in the CHKC World Youth Championship next month. After that, I plan to have a few straws of semen collected and stored on him.

Yogi won first place last night at the CHKC hunt in Beggs, Oklahoma. He scored 200+ and 150 circle in the cast. He needs one more win to qualify for next years CHKC World Hunt.

Since my last post, Yogi has qualified for the PKC and CHKC World Hunts being handled by my seventeen year old son. Allen has been getting Yogi ready for three UKC youth hunts coming up this month. His plan was to hunt Yogi in the UKC YEP hunt at Ralston, Oklahoma last night followed by hunting in the Treeing Walker Breeders & Fanciers Association Youth Championship at Ada, Oklahoma and then the UKC Oklahoma State Youth Championship at Stigler, Oklahoma the end of this month.

Unfortunately, Allen tore his medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee at his high school spring football scrimmage on Friday night. He is going to have an MRI done on his knee tomorrow morning, but the preliminary report isn't too encouraging and it looks like he will be out for the remainder of the summer.

I was really wanting Allen to finish Yogi to Grand Nite to give him a sense of accomplishment and I have not handled Yogi in the hunts because of that reason. Allen told me Saturday afternoon that he wanted me to go ahead and take Yogi to some UKC events to get his last win being that Allen is now out of commission for a while, so with that I plan to finish Yogi to UKC Dual Grand very soon.

I have had a few people wanting to breed to Yogi, but they want him finished to Grand Nite and I understand that completely. Not very many studs are sporting an all grand pedigree as deep as Yogi, but he needs to be grand nite too so the pedigree is complete.

I have also had some reports from different people stating a few hunters out there have been running their mouth stating that Yogi runs junk and that was the reason why he wasn't finished yet. That is NOT TRUE! When I first got him to Oklahoma, he chased a few armadillos mainly because he had never seen one, but I broke Yogi off of them pretty quickly and he hasn't ran nothing but a coon in over a year now.

Like I have said in the past, any hunter interested in breeding to Yogi is more than welcome to come for a hunt. I actually encourage anyone that has an interest, to go hunt with the dog before you decide to make a particular cross. There's too much time spent in training a pup not to put the extra effort out there to thoroughly evaluate a potential stud. Anyone with an interest is more than welcome at my place at any time.

In closing, I am undecided about making English Days in Bluffton, Indiana next weekend. My initial plan was to be there, but Allen's injury has put a big question mark on that. I should know more tomorrow when he gets the MRI and what options we have with his knee (surgery or not). If you don't mind, it would be nice if anyone reading this could say a prayer on Allen's behalf.

Allen wound up not having surgery, but he is with a locking type knee brace with limited mobility until they remove it the 1st of August.

Today, Allen and I were talking about Autumn Oaks and it is Allen's goal to be well enough to handle Yogi at Autumn Oaks. He also wants to hunt Yogi in the CHKC hunts at our local club in August and September because our club is giving the top money winning youth handler a free entry in one of CHKC's 12 dog $300 entry Pro Shootouts scheduled at our local club in October. He's currently leading that race at the club, but will probably get passed in the standings while he is healing from his injury.

The pups should be dark redtick as both Yogi and Squall are dark red and most of their ancestors were the same. It would also be interesting to see how many of the dogs listed above have been on the current and/or historical UKC reproducers list now or in the past. Most people that know me personally know I am extremely picky in the crosses I make. Yogi has thrown three litters total and all of those were before I got him. I have had Yogi for almost two years now and this is the first cross I have made with him. Like I said, I am very picky about the crosses I make and try my best to do my homework. I believe this will be an outstanding cross with good loud mouths and hard tree dogs. Once again, I am very excited about this cross and want to thank Bruce Huffman for the chance at owning such a fine female as GR NITE CH HOLLYWOODS BRIAR CREEK SQUALL
