Several people want more info on Gator. Mike Hicks from southern Ohio raised Gator. He made him a nite ch. And put one win on him. I believe he won overall high scoring dog at redbone days with him. Don't know what the year was. I bought him from Mike and put 3 more wins on him and never put him in another UKC hunt. I won some money with him in PKC but I don't know how much. Gator was a big powerful hound with a huge coarse bawl mouth. He was a super hard hunter that had no reverse. Gator was a belly rubbin chop mouth tree dog that could not and would not be moved. He would tree with anything from a pup to a lion. Ole Gator hated a coon more than any dog I have ever seen and probley will ever see. And that is not an exaggeration in any way shape or form. Mike did breed a couple females before he sold him to me. And I know some of those pups turned out nice. I will try and get his pedigree on here too.

Kate

My Kate dog was out of Gator and I loved her. If I was into AI I would love to have a couple straws. That would have been something that would work on the Lou female. The Kate dog sound like a lion when she came on a tree. One loud female. I have several pictures of Kate ( Kate is buried here at Bristol Ridge ). Gator won here at New Lexington when the Blue hunt was held at the New Lexington fair grounds with Mike Hicks at the wheel. If I remember correct. Dave P.S. Herbie's Crank dog was also out of Gator.

I am getting a lot of questions about the semen and the shipping of it. To be honest I know next to nothing about AI. I have talked to the Vet College and they told me the semen was good and definitely worth saving. I have no idea on the shipping process. The storage isnt a problem at all. They will store it forever. They charge me 14 bucks a year to store it. I will try and call them tomorrow and get some more detailed info on the semen and how many breedings can be expected off the 9 straws, but more than likely it will be Monday before I can talk to someone that can help me with my questions. As far as a price. I will wait and see how many breedings there realistically are, and price it accordingly per breeding not per straw.

I talked to Iowa State today about the semen and the shipping of it. They will ship it anywhere you want them to, but it is very expensive. She said to have it shipped overnight it is 250 bucks. For 2nd day air it is 200 bucks.
As far as the semen and the number of inseminations you could realistically expect out of the 9 straws. She said they checked one straw and it had 25% live count post thaw. She said you could get 2 inseminations out of the 9 straws. She said they would feel pretty confident about getting a live litter breaking it down that way. Of course they cant gaurantee that. And a guy could take a chance and use 2 or 3 straws per insemination. This is just what they recommend using.
So with that information. I would like to get 300 bucks out of the 9 straws. I would just as soon sell all 9 straws to one person because of the odd amount, but that aint set in stone. I appreciate all the texts I got and if I didnt respond to anyone I apologize. I was gone all weekend and was very busy. If you are still interested give me a call or text me at 641-895-4013
Oh, and a couple guys wanted to know how many pups Gator sired. That would be 33. Have no idea how many had titles.
