Was the dog recently given a shot in that area?

Most likely will need to lance and drain the lump area. Not hard to do.Sterile razor blade make small cut at bottom of area. Once it starts to drain you can help it along by pushing on lump to help drainage. Once drained apply some antiseptic to the small cut. May have to drain off several times. If your uncomfortable doing this take him to a Vet. Shouldn't cost more than $60 (to lance and drain).

The way it sounds with it growing that fast it is fluid or infection(pus) building up under the skin. Which will most likely need lanced and drained. If in doubt take to a Vet. Good luck. Keep us posted

Also could be cancer. If he was mine I would take him to the vet.

Cancer tumors normally dont grow fast like that...ive seen bee stings cause a lump the size of a softball fast, benadryl takes it down within a day, good luck

Is it hard or soft? If it is soft, poke a hole in it and see what runs out. If it is hard, take him to a vet.

The sooner that you lance it the better. When you do, if the discharge is full of pus and foul smelling you will have to start him on an antibiotic and make sure that the drain stays open. If you aren't comfortable with lancing it yourself then you will have to pay a vet big bucks to do it.

These come up on my cousin's boxer all the time. It's just puss and it is normally reabsorbed into the dogs body, unless it's huge then it requires lancing. I had one come up on a Black and Tan of mine and it stayed for a week or two and then reabsorbed. I hope its nothing serious, but it sounds like what I experienced and if so you don't have anything to worry about.

DO NOT GIVE HIM BENADRYAL, CAUSE YOU DONT KNOW CAUSE, HIT HIM WITH PENECILAN, 2 OR3 DAYS ITL COME DOWN. LOT OF TIMES IT WILL POP OPEN WHEN THE PEN HITS IT.

Had 1 of my hounds suddenly have a lump appear semihard @ the ribcage area. It turned out to be a bruise. There is no way one can know what these hounds bump/run into etc. .... For a precaution the vet. gave 1000mg of cephalaxin. Turned out to be just that A Big Bruise.
