Another DC-30 Problem???

Trying to figure out a problem with a DC-30 and if it is something we can home remedy .If this question has already been asked please give me a link to answer.
Collar will intermittently lose communication with Garmin 220.
On the Garmin collar info page the communications bars show 2 to 4 green bars then the longer the collar is on hey will drop to two red bars then disappear entirely. Happens whether you are 5 yards or 200 yards. May jump back to 4 bars than back to none again.
Makes me believe it is a communication problem.

What we have done;
Full charged battery
Cleaned antennae terminal
replaced antennae
updated to version 4.10
unplugged and re-plugged battery
deleted and reinstalled collar
tried the collar on another 220 with same results so it is likely a
problem with the collar
Tried a few different ID #'s on communications page from the low
end to high end.
Other DC-30's on the same 220 have 5 green bars on their
communication info page

Have you tried deleting the collar and adding it back to the system? It kind of sounds like you have a bad GPS receiver it is the black box looking thing on the top of the collar that receives the gps signal. They can be bought and I think are fairly simple to replace. Also look at that connection to see if it is cororrided up also or if that wire is broken it is a very thin wire. But that would be my guess. Also try updating the software again sometimes it helps even though u have the current software.

yes deleted and re-entered. the problem is the same on two different 220's.
The GPS signal is good.
Believe it to be something in the communications between the collar and GPS because of the weak signal there.
By the way the GPS antennae looks to be in good shape.

Have u tried another collar on the handheld to see if it does the same thing. If it does than it could be the antenna on the handheld. If it doesn't and keeps good signal. It has to be the GPS receiver "small black box on top of collar toward buckle" that's the only thing it could be. Also take the screw out of the antenna on the collar and clean antenna loop and where it bolts into the collar.
