i was told by some old timers back in the 80's that this dog came out of the friendship, ar area to begin with, before mr. oney bought him and promoted him. the guys telling me about him had both hunted with him when he was in that country. bred and raised there. said good hound. one of them telling me about this has passed, and a member of the ar coonhunters hall of fame, john echols. true??? i can't tell you for sure, second hand info good number of years down the road. might have been a kizzar owned him down here, but can't remember what john said for sure. said they saw oney with the dog set up a few years later at autumn oaks and he didn't want to discuss it....
