Majestic Hounds
About ten years ago I hauled my two good black and tans down to Arizona and spent a couple weeks running cats with a local lion hunter down there. One morning when we were unloading hounds and horses on a ranch that had been having lion problems, up pulls another rig and a father & son team from down there get out and let out four of the rangiest, houndy looking dogs I had ever laid eyes on. I asked if they were Walker's, or Walker- cross dogs and they said nope, straight up bloodhounds. Majestic-bred, old bloodlines. They said they caught some static from other houndsman about the bloodhounds being too slow, but said they didn't seem to have that problem. Long story short, we went south on the ranch, and they went north, twelve hours later back at the catch pens where we left our trucks and trailers here come the two men, four tired, but happy hounds, and a real nice 145 pound tom. That's a pretty big cat for down there, his center pads on both front feet had holes worn in them like an old shoe, from age, rough country, and long miles. We never did get a cat caught in my two weeks, but at least I got to see one---courtesy of some Majestic Bloodhounds!!
