crude fiber

What is the best fiber percent to have in dog food? High the percent more kennel mess or lower the percent less kennel mess?

There is no one size fits all when it comes to fiber. To write this "board proof"......fiber absorbs water in the colon. Too much fiber and it absorbs too much water and the stools are extremely tight. Not enough fiber and more water is present in the pooh. Tweaking the amounts of fiber in a feed has caused a lot of people to think they are feeding quality because the dogs stools are tight. If I am feeding an 8-10% but the rest of food ingredients are solid, I don't worry. If I am feeding 8-10% fiber and the ingredients are suspect (by-products, etc.) I know why the fiber is so high. Anyway, understanding fiber and why it is used is a step in the right direction at understanding what you are feeding your buddy.
