Based on the several different times I've seen him go; Ranger seemed very well balanced. In other words, good in all departments. Woody had him here in Michigan several years back and I remember that even when a couple of the younger dogs got off running junk he would have no part in it and where they would make conditions look tough, Ranger made it look like a piece of cake. More experienced yes, but he made their issues look like non-issues.

Ranger

Sire is Montana Pete and Dam is Kentucky Sassy. Cant remember whats behind them, Windy Willow Cougar, Famous Amos maybe, I would have to look at the papers to tell you exactly. First Red Dog I ever owned was a full brother to Ranger. I called him Rally Egor. To this day, he was the smartest hound I ever owned. He would use his nose to let himself in and out of most any gate. I won a bet one time, some guys didnt belive that he would let himself in, and sure he enough when got back in from hunting, he went and let himself through the gate to the back yard and then to his kennel. He was a slow starter, but once he started, he really came on and made me a nice hound. I never bred him, but I regret that now that Ive seen what Ranger has reproduced.

Ranger was Outlaw bred top and bottom. Pete's mother Casey is a pup I sold to big game guides Scott and Sandy sallee in Montana back about 1994 and she was a litter mate too 2 dual grands called wrights little girl II and the one I kept called Scarlett fever. They were out of Outlaw Timber Girl (timber Jack x Outlaw Jessie) and Billy the Kids daddy...Burning Ben.
You see a dog called Outlaw Jack on the bottom side of rangers pedigree....he was also out of the Timber Jack X Outlaw Jessie cross....so one could say Ranger is line bred Outlaw blood with some other big game bloodlines mixed in.

I was fortunate enough to hunt with Ranger a few times and he was a very nice hound. Nt Ch Shorty was directly out of Ranger. Shorty was nice also. Ranger hunted deep. He would not pass up coons or go deep just to get away from the other dogs but he would get as deep as he had to to get one treed. Mr Woody Brinson would be the person to contact about any semen...843-307-8058

My first two hounds were out of General Red and a female named Kate. Kate was out of Billy the Kid x Rose. They were real nice hounds and every dog I own today has that blood in them except one.

So a double shot of Outlaw and then.

Bruce's Red Josh and Windy Willow Cougar. Ranger is also a double shot of this cross. Anyone know anything about them?

mr woody has had ranger collected at never gone in indiana. he has had him done twice. i have hunted ranger troughout the ime mr woody has had him from the time he was two up until now when he is eleven. i more less pleasure hunted him but did hunt him in a few hunts for mr woody. he is a nice all rounded dog. an exellent water dog but knows how to tree them on a hill also.. he is not perfect but is nice. ranger is not being hunted much these days due to him getting old an mr woody having a tough time wih health issues. i thank i took him out one time this year. i had the privledge to handle him in his last two hunts before mr woody retired him. the grand american we did no good but the last hunt he was in was southern redbone days an i was high scoring dog thursday night an cast winner again friday night an sat night had a bad break an did no good. so he was retired on a two outta three night win streak. nice hound an nice guy to deal with.

I had the chance to hunt Ranger for a few weeks. Like Richard said he would go deep but he would also tree coon behind other dogs that left the county. He treed two coon in a Gr. Nt cast when he ran purina and the rest of the cast had minus.
I had real good luck with him in the few hunts we hunted. He is a nice well balanced hound.
As for Mr. Woody, they don't come any better.
