Breeding?

How close is too close? I dont know much about breeding and how close but I saw a pedigree on here for a coonhound that was Very close breeding. It was not a redbone but another breed of coonhound.

It looked like this

*********Dog A
*******Dog C
*********Dog B
*****Dog E
*********Dog A
*******Dog D
*********Dog B

***PUP
*******Dog A
*****Dog D
*******Dog B

So according to the pedigree a full brother and sister cross was made and then a female from that cross was crossed with her own son. Seems very close to me. Does this work? Im curious? O by the way some of these dogs in the ped were Nitech and Grnitech.

There are some things that need to be known. Are any of these dogs litter mates or are the just random dogs? Also, are any of them related in other ways?

Just a lot of unknowns on this. It would be easier if we could see the pedigree.

Ok I try not to point out names when asking questions because I dont want a stupid question on my be half make someone look bad and start something. Im just trying to learn but ive noticed people get a little touchy on here when you say the wrong thing.

Let me just ask this. Has anyone made a cross on dogs with same sir and dam but they were out of 2 different litters? And has anyone done a mother to son cross? If so what kinda results?

Our Breanna female is out of a half brother / half sister cross with both sire and dam being direct out of Moonlight Kate but two different crosses on her.
I think crosses like this lock in traits...especially when other ancestors are tightly line bred (Kate was line bred Burning Ben / Famous Amos top and bottom)
There have been a few father / daughter crosses made with great success in other breeds. We have actually been kicking the idea around to make such a cross to further lock in the competitive traits that we see coming from the line we are developing. I think if it works....it could reduce the generations of crosses needed to concentrate the desired traits we are seeking to forever lock into our line. But it isn't something to consider lightly.....if there are any serious faults or weaknesses in either parent or even further back....it could be a disaster requiring the offspring be culled.
After careful study we think we may have a daughter that is a possible candidate for a cross on her father and we may in fact take that risk and hope the reward is a great one....stay tuned

I have considered breeding Jeb to his daughter Maggie for a few years now, but I've been a little concerned it might be too close. However they don't have any major holes and don't share any of the same faults and that's what keeps bringing me back to considering it. I plan on linebreeding on Jeb in the future anyhow. Can't line him up much closer then this would be. Lol. I'm still undecided though.
