You don't even need the dog's number. It makes it much easier on us here at the office if you do though!

If you do not have your Easy Entry card or the dog's papers, you can sign up if you pay the $5 conditional entry fee. If you do not know the dog's UKC number please do not guess! It's better if you leave the line blank than to put the wrong number in there. We can look the dog up by name/owner's name, etc. If for some reason we can't find the dog then the championship points may not be awarded. We try to do everything we can though to make sure the dog gets credit for it's wins.

Please keep in mind though that a dog still must be permanently registered before it can be entered in an event. If you dog just has "puppy papers" or you have mailed the puppy papers in and you're waiting for them to get back, you still cannot enter the dog in any event.

Hope this clears it up for you!

Billy,

Sometime in the last 18 months this topic has been covered in the Coonhound Advisor in Coonhound Bloodlines. I'm trying to find the article online now and I'll post it as soon as I find it.

Anyway, the answer to your question is yes and no. I know that's confusing so let me explain.

The deadline to enter is just that: the deadline. No exceptions can be made to extend it in any way. Each entry must be paid before the entry deadline (or be in line for entry when deadline is reached).

However, with the new conditional entry I no longer need a dog's EE card to enter. So say I'm running late to a hunt at Mt. Vernon club this weekend. I know I'm not going to make the deadline but I know my friend Billy Beckham is there and he'll float me a loan until I get there. I call you and you enter Spot for me with the conditional entry (because you don't have Spot's EE card). This is acceptable. The entry has been paid for before the deadline to enter. At the point the cast is ready to go to the woods Spot and I better be there and ready to go to the woods though or I will be scratched.

Where many guys try to do though is call the club officer of MOH listed in the CB and get them to enter their dog. They are under absolutely NO obligation to do so. If a friend of the guy who is running late wants to pay his entry, that's one thing, but you can't expect the club officer or MOH to trust you for the loan!

Hopefully this clears it up for you Billy.

Thanks Paul
I thought I understood it but was at a club where this came up & there was a lot of confusion. I thought it would be good for the group to see it
