Garmin question?

Got a 220 that will pick up my dc-40 when im at the truck with the dog then ill cut them loose and it will track for about 60 yards out then it will loose communication. until i get back within 60 yards. i updated it and it already had the latest update. So what should i do? get it refurbished? how much does getting one refurbished cost?

If you go through Garmin, they will send you a refurbished 220 for $150.

.

Your Problem is the antenna on the Collar $10 to replace or it is the antenna/SMA Connection Handheld. Generally around $60 to replace.

You can call Garmin and get a replacement for around $150

Give Garmin a call at 1 (800) 800-1020.

It very well could be an issue with the collar or the unit that they can help you figure it out over the phone. No need to spend $150 if you don't have to.

If you do end up needing another unit, you send the old one in and pay $150. They will send you a refurbished one after they get yours. They will go over all that with you if it comes down to that.

Hope this helps

Tom your right and I almost said the same thing and I read it 3 more times and I think he is saying the handheld is the problem with a new collar. I am a little confused so don't hold it against me. lol
That is why it is hard to answer these questions as some of the information is vague at best.

Sorry ill clear it up a little bit. My dc-40 collar is brand new i got it Saturday from my local hunting store. nothing is wrong with the collar. i got the 220 from a guy who didnt know if it would work right or not and told me to just try it. and i figured refurbishing it would be better cheaper than buying a new one.

Garmin

If I had to bet I'd say it's the antenna on the handheld. The antenna wire inside the unit is probally broken. I had the same problem with mine a couple yrs ago an Bruce fixed mine up in no time.

Garmin

Call Bruce Conkey he responded earlier to ur post. He'll fix u up.
If ur collars brand new an works fine with another handheld then it's gotta be your handheld. I had the same problem but I could get out a littler farther than u can, probally out to about 150 yards. I sent it to Bruce an Kevin an had it back within about a week or so for around $50 something bucks shipping an all. Once I got the unit back from them it worked better than it did when it was brand new. So Unless u wanna spend an extra $100 bucks That's where I'd send it. Two buddies of mine sent there's to Bruce for the same thing so it's a pretty common problem .Think it's caused by over tightening the antenna when switching them out in back.
