Good running tonight

Went out tonight, two quick drops and two trees with the meet. 45 degrees and easy walking. Couple hundred yards to the first one, 180 to the second.

Feel sorry for the guys that have to walk the mountains for fun! Lol. Left the house at 7:30 and home by 10:00, having a cold one. The black dogs did good tonight.

Hope everyone is having good running!

But the best part was enjoying the night with my son, don't get any better then that!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a good night

My buddy and I went, left about 8:30 made a drop with his male dog and a couple of pups. His male dog made first tree in less than 5 minutes from turn loose, had a one. About 10 mins later treed again but wasn't hooked the best, it was blank. Cut him from right there, he went down to the creek worked a track up the creek about 10 minutes and located like he should and had it. He looked good just a bit rusty as we hadn't been out for quite some time. Walked in the house by 10:00.

Went out with the two older dogs and my pup tonight. First drop (8:00pm) went about 40yds, treed and had one. Sent them back in, went about 400yds, crossed the road and treed. Got to the tree and was putting the dogs on the leads when the guy up on the hill fired a shot gun over our heads. Didn't get to check the tree, but they were hitting it hard. Relocated and sent them in a 3rd time. Went about 350yds and treed, had another one. Was back in the truck by 9:30pm, and just got home.

Another good night, looks like a storm may be moving in.

Not a big deal. Gonna check some stuff out, I think he only own a few acres around his house. Pretty sure he came from the city and now thinks he owns everything.

I took a new dog out tonight. I got on trial from the flat country. First drop started babbling as soon I unhooked him went about 180 yards treed. I went to the tree and it was slick. 2nd drop started babbling as soon as cut loose went about 300 yards and struck got hooked and was in a den tree. 3rd drop dog babbling soon as cut loose went about 400 yards got struck ran about 200 yards located and set in treed. I went to the dog and he was wore out laying at the foot of the tree barking. Another slick tree. So far Im not impressed. 2 slicks and a den in 3 drops is not the norm in east ky your lucky to tree 1 every couple of weeks. I think I bought a slick treeing fool. I got til sunday to take him back.

I know what you mean about city folks moving to the country, and thinking they own everything around them. There are more and more of them all the time around here. The best thing I've found, is to stop and talk to them. Tell them what you're doing, and who has given you permission. Most of them don't have a clue that there is such a thing as coonhunting, and they get scared when they see lights in the woods and hear dogs barking. This is a bad time of year for having run ins like that, because coons are hungry, and they're going to houses in search of cat food, and trash cans, and such.

This is the same dog that had the seizure when you brought it home? Now he is laying down after a few trees? Load him up and take him home my friend. He has heath problems.

That's why I said it wasn't a big deal. I want to cover my bases, as far as where we ended up. Then we might talk to him, when all is cool and daylight hours. He may end up being cool or someone we have to avoid. No need to push it at the time, otherwise we would be screwed every time we get near him.

Thanks guys

I appreciate the responses, and the guys posting the distances the dogs are going. I was looking for responses from just taking the dogs out and having fun.

Yeah I called the guy on the way home. He said He was out of town and would be home Friday and I could bring him back. I'm getting that feeling of I'm screwed and stuck with the dog. I told him I'm bringing him back in the morning and he said oh I'm out of town doing orientation for a new job and no one is home. But, i'll be home Friday. I said dude this thing is a slick treeing idiot. I want my money back.

When I try a new dog out, I ALWAYS get it in writing the terms and time I have on trial,,,with his or her signature on the paper,,,that way it covers my ass incase the person tries to say you bought him...
