Depends....
As someone that gets the privilege of seeing alot of game taken. Everything depends on your skill level. And realistically what is most important is ensuring A clean kill, By showing some respect for the animal you are attempting to harvest. Could kill about anything out there with A .22 if the situation and opportunity is right. But I prefer to show some respect for the animal I am about to harvest and want to minimize the chances of something going awry. Any of the calibers listed above are appropriate. The hand gun rounds, Treed bears ok, spot and stalk? Maybe not. Depends on the situation you expect to be in. My personal rule, for any of the large predators, Cougar on up. Is nothing less then A .270 Personally have killed just about all of the North American game with A .243 But I would not recommend it for the majority of guys out there. Nothing against anyone in particular, But have had to do alot of leg work and got my dogs into more then enough jackpots due to not enough fire power to compensate for A slightly less then ideal shot. And some of those shots are from guys that I know can shoot but got A hit of the big Cat fever. So as above. Would take anything that suits you and the situation that is in the .270 class on up. Good luck and good hunting.
Rhino.
