pup chewing on sticks

Got a young pup 6 months old and when we are out hunting he eats sticks and anything he can find that he doesnt suppose to have. I feed him plenty and he doessnt really want to eat it. Any thoughts on why he wants to eat sticks?

Playful curious puppy?

Mine has been munching on patches of snow while we walk out..figure he's just hot lol...its kinda funny to watch..

Never had one chew on sticks in the woods...but I dont take a dog to the woods and expect it to hunt till it matures out of its puppy traits...

He is a baby. He is just playing, doesn't understand what hunting is yet.

Be glad it's just sticks, I have a 15 month old 3/4 English mastiff puppy they LOVES wood, which includes, but is not limited to: sticks, shovel/rake handles, small(ish) living (but not for long) trees, the corner of our staircase inside the house, the corners of the steps to the front porch, the wooden beams for the railing on the front porch and last but not least, the wooden lats that hold the screens on our screened in porch( or what used tobbe a screened in porch.

He has stopped chewing on inadament objects but has since found that frozen apples are fun

I haven't figured out how to cure this yet, or why he does it but once spring comes I'm putting a hots sauce/ water mixture on everything, it's kind of a big deal when a 200+ pound dog thinks he can chew on whatever he wants lol

He's teething. Give him bones, sticks, leather, whatever. Also don't forget to give your old dogs, that are kept in a kennel, something to chew on. I save my deer bones, and let them dry out in the sun. You can also get dog bones at a local slaughter house. Dogs love it.
