Garmin Alpha-Total frustration

Well downloading Birds eye view certainly is not an easy task with a Apple MacBook computer. Especially when you are barely smart enough to turn it on.

After 2 1/2 days of downloading files, then uploading them to the garmin taking another half day , this piece of equipment is now almost useless. After I finished the the upload, my brand new Alpha will now turn its self off three out of four times when attempting to turn it on.

Been on the phone with Garmin several times today only to find that it is their opinion that the 32 gig chip had too large of files on it for the garmin to read. Thus I THINK I have learned that when downloading files on to you computer, DO NOT EXCEED approximately 200 MB of file information on each file that you download, REGARDLESS of what your computer is telling that is still ok to capture. It is Garmins opinion that this is what is causing my garmin to turn its self off when you attempt to turn it on. Sure wish I would have known that before I spent most all of the last three/four days downloading.

Now my problem is that My computer will not recognize my Garmin Alpha, when the chip is in it, so that I can delete my last 3 days of work and start over. Any suggestions on how to delete these files from my chip would be most gratefully appreciated.

One other thing I am learning is that it is much better to use a PC rather than a Mac computer when attempting to load Birds eye view on your Garmin. #1 the Garmin techs are much better versed on how to trouble shoot a problem using a PC than they are Using a Mac.

Another bit of information that may be helpful to some of you on here is that Garmin told me to NOT ATTEMPT to use a Mac to upgrade Garmin collars. Wish I would have know that before I bought this computer.

Thanks for letting me vent a bit, I sure know the last few days/week have sure been disappointing.

The. Birds eye was a pain when I put it on my 320 but after all was said and done it was awsome !!!! The thing I didn't like about Birdseye isin opinion if you spend the money for a years membership you should be able to down load and put it on all the garmin handhelds that are registered to you !!imo not just one and if you own another you must pay again !! I figured I would wait until they came out with a card that would hold a bigger area before I bought it again but now it sounds like that won't work either!!!! Hope you get yours fixed and I truly believe if you get it resolved you will like what you get if you have never seen it before but really it's only good if you hunt a certain area every time you hunt are you will have to don't
Inue to upload and download every time you go hunting and to me that's no good either

Why does the world's greatest tracking system have a problem with the world's greatest computers?
I don't even know anyone with a windows computer.

Haha! Now that's funny right there. Must just be your area, because around here, everything is PC/Windows. I will say that the new Windows 8.1 is a disappointment. They got rid of everything I liked about Windows, and adopted everything I don't like about Apple. Lol! Just can't win for losing!

About Birdseye, I bought a subscription card, thinking it was just a micro SD card that I could stick right in the 320, and go. That was a big disappointment too! I still haven't got around to downloading all that mess.... My trouble is, my hunting spots are spread out pretty far. I might hunt one area for a week straight, then not go back for a month or more. Depending on State regs. PITA deer, and goose seasons and such. I wish now I'd saved my $30 on the birdseye subscription...
