I start putting them in the woods at 6 months old a few nights alone and after they strike run and tree with the old dog 2-3 times then they are alone from then on !!! Like to let them go alone early and get used to being alone even if they don't strike anything at least they are use to being alone

As soon as they start opening on track. It aint much fun but it makes a better hound. It aint that bad when its warm out but i singled one out this winter and it was rough waiting on him to work a track to a tree. Lot of times i just sit in the truck with the heat on. Lol

From day 1...

I think it might take a little longer for everything to click...but when it does you end up with a better dog IMO....I only hunt 1 dog...I want it to have its own brains and abilities...sending it with other dogs teaches it what its supposed to do...but I don't think they develop their own tracking and treeing abilities...

I think its easier to teach em to hunt with other dogs later than it is to teach em to hunt alone later....

That's just me...

Can take some patience and work and time to get one going alone...

singling out

hunt them alone and when they get broke they will look to be alone. they make their own mistakes and dont learn the habits ither dogs might have. they leanr instead of depending on other dogs. once u break em u will have a dog that can tree it's own coon with or without company, one that can hold pressure, and a more independent, well rounded hound in my opinion. it is the best thing you can do once they start figuring out what they are here for

i perfer to single them out after they start tracking n treeing alittle with the old dog mainly cause it wastes less of my hunting time. also i dont like wasteing time with a pup thats not ready to get to business. another reason i use the old dog first is to help keep them after coon instead of junk.

As soon as they start running & treeing I single them out. Like pamjohnson said, I don't like wasteing my hunting time.
