Southern National Redbone Days

Oh my goodness! There are only 2 weels left. Are the Redbone men from up north going to be able to make it down through all of that snow? We are getting 1-2 in here today but the weatherman says that it is going to warm up into the 50's this weekend and next week. I see that the Virginia boys treed several last night even in the cold. Who is going to be there? I know that the Cartel will show up. I have heard that there will be quite a few Gr Nt Ch Redbones there. It will be interesting to see who comes out on top.

My experience hunting around cedar grove, its some of the best hunting that I have been in any where in this country,

Not un common to tree 6 to 10 singles in a night,

just been my experience.

You must have been in a sanctuary!
Population is ok but my experience is that 1, 2 or maybe three coon on a cast.

Oh my goodness! How could I forget that year? The terrain around Cedar Grove is flat to rolling hills, no mountains. The coon population is decent. A lot depends on the weather since it is in the middle of Feb.
So who else is coming? Will Gr Nt Train and Gr Nt Toby be there? I know that Gr Nt Big Red Jim will be there. Will Gr Nt Shock be there? What will Pres Harvey be hunting? What about the Perkeys? What will Mr Brewin be hunting? Will any of the Moonlight dogs be there this year? It looks like they did pretty good in 2012 and 2013. Will Gr Nt T W Trimmer be there? Will Gr Nt Tess make a return? Will Gr Nt Grateful Dead Red be there? Gr Nt Dark Timber Chicken Foot and Gr Nt Ch River Ridge Willow will be there. Will Gr Nt Kid Rock be there? What about Gr Nt Fishcreeks Dirty Joe? Who have I forgotten? Enquiring minds want to know. I am beginning to get excited.

I have seen dogs from Canada to Florida and as far NorthWest as Wisconsin. Just look at that list of past winners...Wisconsin, New York, South Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, New Jersey and South Carolina in addition to the Tennessee, North Carolina and Virginia dogs. Everyone always says that they want a hunt when the going is tuff and the leaves are off. Well, here it is. I have always heard that you have to have a real coondog to win at Southern Redbone Days. Who is going to have a real coondog this year?

Brian, I am going to try to stay out of the way. I don't want to get run over. But I have talked to a few others that said they were ready to throw up a roadblock. The Gr Nt Ch category should be quite interesting. You need to bring Callie over and add her to the mix if you aren't too afraid that is.

What about the Bench Show at Southern Days???? I wonder if I should start a new post just for them. In the past there have been some "big name" winners and some lesser known surprises. There is even a bench show on Fri just for the dogs who hunted on Thursday night. It is for true dual purpose hounds. I can remember a couple of years where the High Scoring dog from Thursday night has won the bench show on Friday.

I love it ! If it was going to be 80 degrees at night I would not like our chance. Train loves the cold & has treed & had his teeth in 12 different coons in the last 3 nights with 7 inches of snow on the ground. We might get beat & that will be OK too but we will be ready for the challenge.

I talked to a good friend of yours about single registration the other day. Real nice guy. He said callie had 2 pups. I know what needs to go your way next time. You hear that TRAIN coming ! Lol...

Cedar Grove, North Carolina....You must not be trying very hard. There sure are a lot of them out there.
Brian, I don't think that there has ever been a winner from Alabama before. Maybe you could change that. Or maybe Brad Tipper or Wayne O'Mary will bring their young dogs up.

I just checked Mapquest and it told me that Ceder Grove was 12 hrs and 38 min from my house. I wish I could make so Boone could do a little exploring in the southeast . I would have to leave on Wendnesdsy to even make it there on time. I was thinking about coming until I found out it was that far. Oh well maybe next year. It sure sounds like a good time. Good luck to everyone hunting down there.

Come on down for the week Jared make a vacation of it. I got an extra room plenty of drops with water that Boone can get used to.
