Between 4-5. She's almost 2 I'd say if she ain't got the hunt she ain't got the hunt It may pick up a little but I'd say what she is hunt wise is what she is.

depends on the dog....most dogs can give you a glimmer of whats to come by 18-24 months...solo time at that time period is critical a dog has to learn how to do by itself or else it usualy isn't a complete dog. take away it's crutches, and make it walk on it's own. I had a female that matured at 4 years old but was at her best from 6-8 years old.

Depends on the hound, but maturity of a hound can depend on its surroundings as well. Mainly not letting lesser hounds pollute other hounds with inconsistencies and faults. At the point in which a hound can jump and circle his own rabbit while being shot over would be considered in my book as broke. Allowing time for soloing a hound will build brains, and confidence. There's never a thing as too much soloing. A dog being too independent is another thing. But most all dogs will pack with no problem. You'll know when that certain dog is in his or her prime. Good luck.

I agree 5,6,7. I've got one of the best young hounds I've ever owned and he won't see a trial till he's at least 3-4. Seen too many dogs set back by being ran with a bunch of dogs all the time and being trialed hard at a young age. Just my opinion though!

Depends on how much the dog has been ran.

How old a dog is when it breaks down and can not keep up with the pack depends a lot on the dogs physical makeup. A poorly structured dog breaks down much younger. A dog with excellent structure and effortless motion has an extended prime. I have seen and ran dogs that ran strong past 10yrs. Have had hounds that started to fall behind 7-8 yrs old. I believe their physical ability changes before their mental attitude. Beau is 14 and still freaks out when I get the chaps or bibs on.
