Malarin Fly Bait

I think the DNR better wake up to this issue, This stuff is leaving the shelves faster than 22 shells and there hard to find around here. I have heard landowners baiting with this stuff all over and bragging of killing 29 to 50 coons in a couple days and Iam sure it kills more than coons, We already have in my opinion lazy people calling coons out of den trees in the day time with electronic callers whats next people poisoning coons in the fall and walking the fields and picking up all the dead and sick ones, heard they dont make it to far after licking that stuff. Instead of the coonhunters and trappers worring out whos taking all the coons we better look into whos really doing the damage. I like the idea I think Michigan came up with, I think I read were they can get written permission from the land owners to control a few of them, Is this true? Think about it trappers way better than poisoning hundreds or maybe thousands of them.Anybody have any thoughts on this. you guys that dont have many coon to tree might want to look into this!

They've been using it down here for 10-15 years. Some people have been turned in to the DNR for using it too.

We did back before they came out with fly predators. As long as it stays dry, mammals don't touch it. Atleast that was our experience.

This stuff was called golden malarin. The EPA required the manufacturer to change the color from yellow/golden to a gray color because it resembled the color of corn.I don't know how much of the old product is still on the shelf. My feed store owner told me he thinks the new stuff isn't a killer like the yellow was but I don't know that for a fact. Using this as poison for animals violates federal EPA labeling regs. A farmer up here got ticketed when he put some out near a state game area here.

Have a friend with chicken houses that accidently killed 3 of his own dogs with this stuff. And have heard reports from some Kansas friends of mine finding dead coon everywhere last year , they thought had caught a disease, makes me wonder?

A dang shame & waste of wildlife. I know what ya mean about most of the deer hunters,I've lost good huntin' spots due too them. Don't want me or my dogs harassin' their deer, like 'yotes don't? Tried too tell 'em I got coondogs not deerdogs it don't register.

Fly bait

After reading the above postings I googled it to learn more and saw this article...now they are even telling the public how to! I just hope some family pets or kids dont get into this there will be some sorry people. I hope this idiot gets busted! Read how he tries to cover his but by saying kids and pets wont touch it!

Lots of articles talk about how to "control" raccoons and how to "divert" raccoons and how to "live-trap" raccoons. I have a different perspective. After losing roughly 60 two-ear corn stalks to raiding raccoons this year, I'm ready to pull the trigger. It's time to deal some death...

Get thee to Tractor Supply and ask for Golden MalrinTM. It comes in small 1-lb. cans and in larger 5-lb. cans. Expect to pay $5-6/lb. for this stuff. (I recently bought 5 lb. for just under $25 plus tax.) Mix a small handful of this fly bait with a can or two of your favorite sugar-based soda pop, such as Coke or Pepsi or Mt. Dew. Put it in a pan in the general approach path the 'coon is using... and prepare to scoop up dead bodies.

Cats and dogs don't like it. It stinks bad enough that kids won't come around it. Flies love it, but that's what it's designed to attract, and along with dead flies come birds, so be prepared for a dead robin or two. I've had luck against raccoons using a shallow metal pan filled with the GM mix placed in the close vicinity of the sweet corn they're stealing. And once I've placed the stuff right, and the coon takes the bait, it's all over, lights out.

Get this, because I'm NOT making it up. I've killed three adult coons in the past week with this stuff, and the toughest one -- about 25 lbs. -- made it 20 feet from the pan before he died. The other two didn't get ten feet.

THIS **** WORKS.

I am NOT making this up.

And whatever you do, PROTECT YOURSELF, WEAR GLOVES!! This stuff is POISON!

For the benefit of one and all, and in an effort to protect my precious ass, I offer the Material Safety Data Sheet for Golden Malrin. For those of you who are not familiar with MSDS's, they are useful guidelines that describe the safety issues associated with a substance you may come into contact with. Any time a substance that may be harmful to humans goes to market, OSHA and other agencies require that an MSDS be issued at the same time.

The MSDS for Golden Malrin is here in PDF form.

Golden Malrin is not designed to kill raccoons; it is designed to kill flies. My recommendation of the product for killing raccoons is not illegal, any more than my use of unleaded gasoline to help me start a fire is illegal. But it goes against the product label's recommendations, and may get your local fish & wildlife contingent motivated to get better acquainted with you.

As always, you use the information presented here at your own risk. It tickles the living **** out of me that folks are seeing benefits from GM in their own lives. But this stuff is DEADLY POISON, as deadly to humans as it was to my idiot raccoon of the month who died with his tail in the dish. BE CAREFUL!!!! Use caution! THINK!!!« Last Edit: July 07, 2012, 08:59:01 PM by Humphrey » Logged

What about USDA or US wardens, just a thought. Or even talk to the managers of TSC explain to them on what is going on. Call # 0
on the product and make a complaint.

If enough chains get rattled something weill happen.

Farm I coon hunt and deer hunt farmer had rubber pans of it out in his corn field scattered all around the edges a couple rows in a few years back. Not that I agree with it all but its hard to argue against him with the thousands of dollars he looses every year in crop lose. Needless to say the buckets where emptied by an unknown person
