Hard Tree Dog

My Trimmer dog is a very hard tree dog, maybe to hard. Although I dont know what kind of pups he is going to throw. He's only been bred twice and the pups arent old enough to know yet. I have a couple other real nice females ready to breed to him as soon as they come in.

A little confusing to me, I have never heard of a dog treeing to hard unless it was like one a friend of mine had he would tree so hard it would blow his hemroids out.

And the /slick treeing is that a traight you are looking for?

Hard Tree Dog

When Trimmer trees, his mouth chokes down and he trees with both front feet up on the tree and he puts alot of power behind it. Thats the best way I can think to describe it. Louisa Ky is located 20 miles south of I64 right before you cross over into West Virgina. We are about 30 minutes from Ashland Ky and 45 minutes from Huntington WV. He's here any night you want to go with him. Im supposed to be going up next weekend to hunt with Butch Roeder and Butterbean. Its possible I might be able to hunt with you next Sunday night if you live close to that area and have a place or two we could kick em. Just let me know.

Larry, I think that he is looking for a dog that gets treed too quick and is not very accurate. This not a trait that Redbones are known for. Redbones are usually known for being very accurate but not as fast to get treed as some other breeds. Most people that want a very quick tree dog just stick with one of the breeds that are known for this. But some have tried to breed more quickness into their Redbones. A lot of people think that, "you can train/take some of the tree out but you can not train/put it in". It has to be bred in. A lot of people think that you need to take a track driving very accurate dog and breed it to a very quick tree dog in order to get a balanced pup. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. But if you are hunting dogs or a line of dogs that is more track minded, then it usually helps to add some more tree minded blood. I have heard that the reason that the Rusty X Zack cross worked so well was that Rusty put the track in and Zack put the tree. It takes two to Tango. You would have to breed a tree minded stud to a tree minded female to get tree minded pups. But, I don't think that you will get anyone to admit that their Redbone is too tree minded. You will just have to hunt with a bunch of them and come to your own conclusions.

I think I am getting it now

When I think of a hard tree dog to me that is a dog that spits out a high number of barks per minute not a dog that trees quick.

I am gonna use my dirty joe dog as an example,

Joe is not a hard tree dog, but he is tree minded. I would say he is an average tree dog with that said,

He is quick on track, and super quick to find the tree I am talking about drive the track make it climb and slam it NOW!!!!!!!

But also extremely accurate and I would say at his best he maybe 75 to 80 bpm but in 10 trees he probly gonna average closer to 60 bmp.

They dont make them that can find the tree with accuracy any quicker than what he does or if they do I have never seen one but he is far from a hard tree dog or /slick tree'er

My buddy's dog like I described up top, He had a lot of problems trying to keep his guts in him because he treed so hard, he would actually tree his guts out. He wasnt a dog that could find the tree quick but he was a super hard tree dog.

BJENKS I am probly about 4oo mile from you one way!!!

I have a 2 yr old female that I might sale, she will GRNT and is ready to comp hunt.

Heavy Line Bred top and bottom COFFMAN!!!

By herself she just dont have much hunt or atleast not near enough to suit me but in competition she is ready and will win.

If no coon around she will tree a possum not bad never got on her.

Not sure what is your right price but I aint giving her away I know what it takes to buy her and you would need to come here and buy her or not under the tree.

I've hunted with a lot of steveo pups. They have a lot of tree bred in them. Guess that's the zack coming out. They are lock down stay put and are competitive. Also hard that the Banjo line has lots of drive and desire to get treed.

I have followed Redbones for forty years.

When I started, a good hard treeing red dog was the exception. From my observations now, a red dog that doesn't tree is the exception.

To hard

I can't speak for other breeds but I know of several Redbones that have died, had strokes, etc.. at the tree down here when it's hot. If you get one knocking over about 80 bpm seems to be the number then if it's out in the heat and humidity down here chances are you're going to have problems. JS
Glad you found a hound plenty that will tree now main thing is hunting them and time for some of them. Some start looking right at 2 like many use to but now days alot can keep up with any breeds on starting age.
