Shannon, I think Mac was pretty tight on the ground, If you put a lot of Mac in the pups have they been tight? Over the years and back in the day I owned and hunted a lot of sons and daughters of Old Mac. Anyone that would like to know what they were like can ask...

stud fees and pup prices have pretty much stayed the same for 35 years. Yet people complain about a stud fee or pup price being $250-$500 now. That $250 in the early 80s is probally comparable to at Lear $500 now if not more. Hound prices are the cheapest of the sporting dogs. Look at the prices of upland bird dogs would make a lot of these tight *** coo hunters have a heart attck.

Mac had a unusual mouth, he sounded very similar to a coyote pup on track and half grown coyote when he was treeing. The first time I heard him I thought he was a coyote that had got in a trap.

I heard a lot of story's about Hillbilly Mac, Stricker, Pacman, and Wagners Mr. Quick. This is just what I heard. Stricker and Wagners Mr. Quick are half brothers, they breed this male to a walker female to get Stricker, and they breed the same male to a bluetick female to get Quick. You never know if a story is true, but I was convinced when I saw a Nite Champion named Blue in a hunt in Pa. The nicest bluetick you ever wanted to see and the dog was sired by Hillbilly Mac. I think the last guy to own him was Jeff Baker from Rockwood Pa.
