New boots , and patience. These cur pups arent what they were 25 years ago , jmo most guys will tell you to start on squirrel , and get a good year on them before you coon hunt them. I think it depends on what you want in a dog ? And where you live. Its nearly impossible to train one on squirrel if theres not any squirrel around. Just one piece of advice , a curs not like a hound , if you whip a cur they wont ever forget it

Never whip a cur

That is good advice

Just let the pup be a pup and it will start on it's own.
just lots of walks in the woods

I have some young pups and as of right now, what I'm doing is just taking them for walks in the park for 3 reasons. 1 they get to ride in the truck box. 2 they get to walk on a lead. 3 there are tons of sqs at the park and they should let you know when they are ready for the woods. I posted an add like this before about how old do people start there pups, I think a lot of people thought I was ASKING but I was just courious as to when some people start there's. I emai until they show interest at sqs and can run them up a tree at the park at least.

Thanks for the advice guys...I'm now at a stand still on getting my pup thanks to some sorry sucker stealing money out of my bank account. Hopefully I'll be able to get everything taken care of tomorrow so I can send my deposit.
