The litter we raised off my Dad's Grand Nite was pretty mediocre I guess. Both males were bought and sold at least twice before they were two. Both showed some promise but not sure either ever really got a fair shake. Not sure what happened to either of them.
1 female was running and treeing some but was culled due to some behavioral issues and personality traits. The personality traits came from her mother.
Another female was supposed to be lighting the world on fire at 7 months old and the kid turned down $2500 for her and then somehow he and the dog fell off the face of the earth.
The female we had had some real good things going for her but had a couple traits we just couldn't stand. She was naturally independent as a pup. Accurate. She was treed by herself more than with company. Not afraid of the dark, and would get gone all by her lonesome. Had a big lion roar locate and was a solid tree dog. Above average mouth. No off game or aggression issues. The bad was she had absolutely no compass, you could cut her loose in the section you wanted to hunt with the terrain, wind and everything else in her favor and she'd bust out the side and get gone in a hurry. We'd find her treed somewhere with a coon. She'd put us in some strange country sometimes. She had absolutely terrible kennel manners. Quiet, but chewed up everything and didn't sit still for more than 30 seconds. We sold her and as far as I know she couldn't be bought. The guy that has her loves her to death.
We got Nite Ch AKC Grand Nite Ch Pine Ridge Wild Ox from JR Browder. Ox is Thunder's Wild Clyde, Lone Pine Dewey, and Logan's Wild Clover on the bottom. He's not perfect but I like almost everything about him. Prefers to be by himself but will cover. Stays in the pocket unless he needs to. Good mouth with a tree mouth you can hear forever. No male dog behavioral issues. Good in the kennel. He jacks the tree and chews some and it gets worse in the heat. Doesn't seem to handle the heat well. The last 2 years he's treed a pile of coon in the snow and ice on nights when most hunters wouldn't even bother going out. We've got a pair of pups off him we're slowly messing with. Others in the litter are already running and treeing.
In the few Tuff pups I've been around, they all had above average mouths and were naturally independent.
