Ted Nugent interview

_Ted Nugent; rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a liberal journalist who also happens to be an animal rights activist. The discussion came around to deer hunting. The journalist asked, "What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him? Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or is it 'Are you the one who killed my brother?'"Nugent replied, "Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is what am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the Democrats in Congress."The interview ended_______

Actually, Nugent was being interviewed by a French journalist and his reply was not "They are very much like Democrats in Congress". It was "They are very much like the French in that."
But you're right, it was funny.

I would say it's just a wee bit different, when the destroyer of America says his lies over and over and over, as opposed to something Ted Nugent was mis-quoted for! But in all reality, I would compare American liberals very similar to the white flag waving French! JMO

This is my favorite Nugent interview:

Interviewer: How did you get out of the draft?

Ted Nugent: Ted was a young boy, appearing to be a hippie but quite opposite in fact, working hard and playing hard, playing rock and roll like a deviant. People would question my sanity, I played so much. So I got my notice to be in the draft. Do you think I was gonna lay down my guitar and go play army? Give me a break! I was busy doin' it to it. I had a career Jack. If I was walkin' around, hippying down, getting' loaded and pickin' my a** like your common curs, I'd say "Hey yeah, go in the army. Beats the poop out of scuffin' around in the gutters." But I wasn't a gutter dog. I was a hard workin', mother****in' rock and roll musician.

I got my physical notice 30 days prior to. Well, on that day I ceased cleansing my body. No more brushing my teeth, no more washing my hair, no baths, no soap, no water. Thirty days of debris build. I stopped shavin' and I was 18, had a little scraggly beard, really looked like a hippie. I had long hair, and it started gettin' kinky, matted up. Then two weeks before, I stopped eating any food with nutritional value. I just had chips, Pepsi, beer-stuff I never touched-buttered poop, little jars of Polish sausages, and I'd drink the syrup, I was this side of death, Then a week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. poo*, pi** the whole shot. My pants got crusted up.

Except if you read the entire Snopes article it later says Nugent denied doing those things, he just made them up during 1977 in a High Times magazine interview. He did eventually get listed as 4F, but no one is sure why exactly. Without the physical record (which is a medical record and therefore sealed from public view) we will probably never know for sure.

But, besides that, this isn't about Ted Nugent acting like a crazy teenager wanna-be-rockstar in the 60's to avoid going to war. I'm sure he would feel differently about the subject now. We all change our opinions as we get older and life circumstances force us to reevaluate what is important in our life. I'm sure if you told 1969 Ted Nugent he'd be a right-wing conservative in 2013, he'd laugh you to shame!

You wanna talk about someone getting out of going to Vietnam, check out this article truly: http://www.snopes.com/politics/clintons/felon.asp

I'm sure you didn't get all up in arms about that one like you have Ted Nugent.

It's also not about a well-meaning guy like cartwright trying to pull the wool over anyone's eyes with this post. I'm betting he got this in an email and then forwarded it to here. He didn't check it thoroughly, but we've all been guilty of the same thing. And, let's be honest, you wouldn't be surprised if Ted said it about Democrats.

This post is about a crazy (let's agree, Ted is crazy; I like the guy a lot and he's a great hunting PR person in some ways because he doesn't care who he's talking to, but he's still crazy) rockstar making a very funny statement about the French or Democrats or whoever. Quit acting like you guys didn't think it was funny because it happened to pick on your party. It was. It would have been just as funny if they had interjected Republicans instead of Democrats.

And don't tell me, just because a right-wing rockstar like Ted Nugent said it, you guys aren't going to use his response to anti-hunters you come across when they pose the "what was this animal thinking" question. It is simple, clever, and accurate as to what a buck deer would be thinking, in my opinion. You'll probably leave off the "they are very much like the _____ " as I would too. It would just serve to inflame the person you are talking to and wouldn't help. You have to admit, no matter what else, Ted was pretty spot-on with the response in that way.

Paul,
I agree with your assessment that Nugent is crazy. I disagree that I would ever use his justification for killing any specie. I think it is wrong of the pro hunting community to think that it is a winning argument to say that it is ok to kill something because it is "simpleminded". This argument seems solid to those who are already on board with hunting, for those who aren't it is just a reminder of the justifications for slavery or mass slaughter of Native Americans. As you clearly know maintaining hunting rights is going to be a long term battle. Picking an argument that does not resonate in any way with your opponent gets you no where. As a raccoon hunter my justification is almost always understood by anyone excluding the most die hard animal rights activist. Killing an animal that steals from farmers and gardeners is a pretty easy sell. If I tried the argument that it was ok just cause they were simpleminded I don't think that would fly. It might actually trigger even more sympathy from our opponents.
It is a dangerous path to go down suggesting that those capable of more complex thinking have the moral justification to kill those with less complex thinking.

I'm also not sure that the pro hunting community is wise to support Nugent as a spokesperson for the cause considering most everyone seems to agree that he is crazy, and his comments about the Men who went to serve in Vietnam. Suggesting, as he has, that military service is for "common curs" or a "gutter dog"? That might get some love out of the Hanoi Jane crowd, but regarding spokespeople for the hunting community I think it is imperative the we all ourselves, individually are the best spokespeople that we can be.

Having never been at risk of being drafted I will withhold judgment of those who avoided service. Unless those same people come back and start talking all like tough guys. Then they are fair game. To the best of my knowledge Clinton never did that.

I always pegged Paul as a soft lefty, however after reading his reply to Ben I believe he could be wise beyond his years.

How do you get this from what was said by Nugent?? She asked what the deer was thinking right before being shot not why are you killing the deer.

Isn't this country great! You can come on any site and give your opinion no matter how goofy someone might think it is, but it's YOUR opinion. I wonder if you prefer it when a guy like John Kerry comes to Ohio, and wants to go " a huntin", or when Obama grabs up that fake gun and commenced to "shootin"! But after all, it's just our views and opinions!
