I have a weird question

I knew a guy that had his favorite dog mounted. What do think you think about it? I myself have mixed feelings.

A lot of folks do it. I currently reside in Maryland and it is against the law to perform taxidermy on domestic animals. Which to me is just about as strange as having your pet mounted...I don't see the big deal either way. I don't think I would have my coondog mounted. I don't get the problem with mounting a longhorn steer for the local steakhouse restaurant. But you cant do either in this state.

It's something they want for themselves , not something the animal needs or wants.
And to me , that is selfish.

I take it you think it's ok for them to "stuff" their family too?

I agree...my hounds are like family, so a proper burial is the right thing to do in my mind. If you want to skin your dog and keep the fur, go ahead....but thats wierd to me and id feel guilty. I bury my dogs and usually plant an apple tree near them as a way of remembering them for years to come.

Why not ? With the cost of funerals these days it might be cheaper!

Who wouldn't want Grand Pa stuffed and mounted over in the corner of the living room in his favorite rocking chair with a little Beech Nut stain on the corner of his lip? Why it just don't get much homier than that unless you get Ole Red stuffed and put him curled up by Grandpa's feet does it?

LMAO, and no I don't want my dog stuffed either.

Check THIS out:

www.perpetualpet.net (Freeze-dried pets)

Be sure to check out the photo gallery on that website; those animals sure do look alive !!!

Someone I know took her (deceased) dog in & had this process done. It's not done by a taxidermist, & they don't skin the pet. They use special equipment to gradually remove all moisture content, & the process takes a few months to do.

My friend paid $500 for her Miniature Pinscher to be done, several years ago. I see from the website price list that it costs a bit more now, but nowhere near as much as I would have thought.

My friend said she is very happy with the job they did on her dog, but then, she went out & bought a NEW puppy of a different breed.

Sounds a little too creepy for me...
