Would it work?

I've got a male beagle that's about 12. Had several litters of pups from him with very good results. I'd like to have 1 more but the old boy can't "rise" to the occasion. I'm thinking a little shot of Viagra might seal the deal. Bad idea?

Think I'd go to the vet see if they could help...would not self medicate him!

Probably right! I don't want to kill the old boy. I read on it a little bit and sources are saying to try different females. Some just dont do the trick I guess

dogs can take alot of same medicine people do but beagles being small would take small amount if safe. Not sure its always safe for people though so might keep that in mind. I actually just mated a 11yr old beagle. for 2 days he walked circles around female humping her every 5 min but nothing up. 3rd day we saw them hooked up. How long did you give him? Also that litter only had 2 pups one died at birth. Might have or might not have been because of males age. Good Luck.

He has been in the same pen with this female for years. If I want pups I leave her in his pen during her cycle if not i put her in her own kennel. I read that sometimes if dogs are together for long periods of time the male won't breed her. It's natures defense mechanism against inbreeding. Daughters, sisters, etcetera. He tries like crazy though and that's what gets me. I mean for a week straight he just goes to town but his soldier won't march. I'm going to try a different female and if that doesn't work I may just give up.
