I just started feeding the Southern States 21-9 and the Southern States 24-20 complete.Best dog feed I have ever fed, like it better than Black Gold. The price is very reasonable. My dogs look good and they eat it very well.

Been feeding SportMix for a few years now and been happy with it. Heard some good things on here about SS's new line so I started testing a few dogs on the SS Advance formula to compare it to SportMix.

So far I been well pleased with it. I have a dog that has Hip Dysplasia and he was one of the dogs that I was testing the feed on before I switched them all over. He seems to have a jump in his step since he has been on it.

Cost comes out to 30 cents difference on when I bought SportMix and I gain 20lbs extra with the SS feed as I buy 500lbs at a time as the SS feed only comes in 40lb bags while SportMix comes in 50lb bags.

Here is their Pet Loyalty Program:

http://www.southernstates.com/promo.../petloyalty.jsp

From my understanding, they only send out the coupons twice a year.

Instead of joining the program, the place I buy the feed gives me a $1.50 off each bag when buying at least 500lbs (13 bags = 520lbs).............I rather not have to worry about keeping up with the coupons twice a year.

Yes, they have 26/18, 24/20, and 28/18 Advanced Formulas.

Here is a product breakdown down on their feeds.

I usually dont hop on these dog feed posts. But here i go. I used to feed Southern States (PRO BALANCE ) 24/20, and come to find out only me and a handful of others were buying it. Not enough to keep supplying it. Then they quit making it. Now i feed the SOUTHERN STATES (ADVANCED ACTIVE 26/18! THE BEST I HAVE EVER FED!! Dogs put on MUSCEL NOT FAT! COATS LOOK GREAT. Plenty of GO, and poop is what it should be. Just my 2cents worth.

Buckshot, I appreciate you posting the link to southern states. But, you do not have to keep track of anything(I used to use Purina, and their program was a headache). You sign up with a cashier one time....just your name,#, and adress..........After the first time, you just give them your # and then once you have fed enough, they automatically mail ya coupons!!!!!!!It's an awesome feed and a great coupon program.....Man I don't miss those points that Purina requires!!!!!!!!

Jay Bird 76, I realize that they are suppose to keep up with it, but we do not have a Southern State's store here. It's a local feed store that just got bought out that the new owner joined the Southern States co-op after the purchase.........I call them and tell them I need some dog food and they special order it.

LOL, that is why I say I don't want to keep up with it.

Plus $1.50 discount x 13 bags = $19.50 and the most the coupons would do on regular price would be $15.00.

Steve

I agree completely with VA BLACKDOG. When we were campaining the old JET that was the only feed he ever ate. Back then they had a picture of a bird dog on the bag. They did a real good article on us, I also fed it to the dogs at the S/O, Then they changed something closed the store here and now no one around me stocks it. BY FAR THE BEST FEED I HAVE EVER FED UNTILL "SOMETHING" CHANGED . Have heard they went back to the original formula would feed it again if a supplies was close. They did me RIGHT I thinlk you would like if you gave it a try.
Buckshot The REP I delt with was from AL great guy.

I am trying it now, fed everything from Sportmix to Pro Plan. They only had the 27/15 complete active in stock, $16.49 a bag but but didn't know about the coupon program. The complete sport 24/20 is only $15.49 and they ordered me a bag to try.

JAR 242. Just tell the cashier that you want to join their pet perks program. You give your adress and phone number. Every 6 months, they mail you your coupons. I just recieved 3 $5 coupons a few days ago. Also, when their feed is on sale, they still accept the coupons. I've been feeding the complete Sport for about a year now. My dogs look awesome!!

Just my Two cents worth

I have fed them all or seems that way. Love all the Purina Brands I fed but my God times are tight and I just can't afford it. Black Gold never had a problem with it other than finding a place to buy it. SportMix great feed finally have a couple places to buy it but again price sometimes is a factor. Fed High Standard great feed just had to go so far to buy it and the guy quit selling it. Southern States 24/20 Sport and Advanced Brands is what I feed now and most of the time they have coupons at the check out counter for $5 off so I save a little bit there. Also they keep up with how much you buy by being a member and they send out coupons every so often to use when buying their product. I have a old female that has always been picky about feed. She eats this stuff as soon as you put it on her pan. My dogs look good on it and hold up great so far. I really like it. JMO

So far so good but the store I buy from isn't a "cooperate" store so they don't have the computer system to do the loyalty program, was told that was a cooperate program but I like the guy and the price is okay with me. I did see it looks like they changed the loyalty program out of the blue, you only get so much off now and not coupons. Here's the link http://www.southernstates.com/promo...petloyalty.aspx

Southern States

Sorry to bring an old post up but I just found a hardware store that started carrying Southern States doog food yesterday so I bought some to try. I got the green and white bag complete sport 24/20 for $15.99 for 40 lbs. Is everyone using it still happy with it?
