I know they are gonna be a lot of sarcasm and I quote " I would just quit hunting or let her die of old age before I would do that" or " they aint no such thing .. they dont make them "answers. But I would really like your input on this in a serious way, I'm gonna catch a lot of insults from fellow blue tickers I'm sure for asking a walker man/woman this question. And I know some of you will have hunting buddies that own a blue male that you feel you should mention since he's your friend but I'm wanting to hear about that one that is in his own league not just a good blue dog but a A$$ kicker ( excuse my language but I'm pretty serious) .. And I would appreciate it if we could leave kennel names out also ? And I'm sure some of you figure you have better things to do but if you don't all would be helpful... Ok ! Here's the question ? You hunters that have these TW gyps that you love and love hunting all week and weekends at the hunts or with friends.. If you could only BREED her to a BLUETiCK MALE to get pups ?? What Blue Dog in the last 3 years that you have hunted with and you know is a number one tough hound no matter what's he's hunted against will consistently dominate the cast ? Whether its in the hunts or hide hunting and normally tide behind a barn as the saying goes? What's his name????? And let's leave out Hounds that have passed away ... Just the ones eating breathing and fully Live LOL ! Thanks

I hunted against a blue male here in Indiana named " Northern Blue Boone", he's a Grnite now. He looked far better than most of the blue dogs I've hunted with. Alot of people say blue dogs are slow trackers, but that wasn't the case with him. I seen where he also made it through some rounds for the world this year.

But I only hunted with him that one nite. I don't know his owner from Adam.

Just out of courosity whats your reason for wondering, for breeding? Wanting to impresses people from other breeds? I think there's probably a lot of blue's that don't get hunted in nite hunts for some reason or another. The male I own just turned 2, put him in his first hunts last month. His first hunt tied for first but lost coin toss, 2 hunt won first. I'm planning on finishing him to nitech and that'll be it. I really don't care for the headache of the hunts. I just kind of wanted to prove that just because he's big ( 90lbs ) and blue he can win hunts etc. I think there's a lot people with great blue's that just don't go to the nite hunts etc. But your right, it takes a heck of a blue dog to impress people that hunt other breeds.

Heard people say Spanky was the best hands down . But if I had to breed one to a blue dog it would be pounder .

Blueticks have just as good of tools as walker dogs but blue ticks have sometimes too much nose and not enough hustle and if they do have hustle they only use it when they feel like it . That's the fault in that breed

Thanks y'all for more info:: the truth is I was reading and posting on the post : Why can't Blue Dogs win the big hunts or something like that ?? As I read and thought about it ? I was posting with rmcmillian and thought it would be good to get thoughts from those that are not prejudice over blue bloodlines or the stuff they have just always hunted. (So hunters of other breeds )Thoughts from outside the box !! I hunt TW's and Blues always have... Started with TW's until I got a pup directly off SPANKY which surprisingly opened my eyes ... I still like both to a lot of people's surprise ... I agree with dwills on the Motors... But it's not always the case as I've owned a few with for sure Big Blocks lol !! I'm just trying to see if we as a breed of blue tickers can lay our bloodlines down to an extent try to go outside our box and go for sure enough big motored tree jamming blue dogs with whatever goes with it.. Some of my best hounds were so stinking trashy (TW's and Blues)but with patience became some of my best..Not saying they have to be trashy to be good but that drive you can't teach.. I've always loved layup dogs and found alot it thru the SPANKY.. And it seems to pass on down thru his offspring...I think they are Blues that can if pushed and hunted on the big stage be capable of winning. But on a larger scale something is missing ? I don't think it's just bad luck that has kept them off the big stage... Don't know about everyone we but I want one that will win big!! LOL !! Just being honest.. Had one blue that had it all but lost him early and now I want another one!! Lol ! Honestly don't have the answer :: maybe some new blood and as I stated in other post throw bloodlines out and try some just crossing A$$ kicker Coondogs to A$$ kicker Coondogs crosses .. Maybe ? See what happens... Let me say bloodline of course matters .. Most definitely !! I'm just seeing what we can do to better the breed by listening and learning from those outside the breed. LOL !! I've heard that works !! Lol !!but to the dyed in the wood Blueticker, they want it out of blues which is understandable ... Where I live it's kind of a normal thing to cross hounds to get certain traits that may be weak with bear hunting and cat hunting so prominent. Some of my best were crossed, but that being said we are hoping to just get insight into to a positive direction to put Blue consistently stronger all the way around...just a note: Bad Habit and Blue females worked great but again we are trying to stay in the breed and take the strong to the strong ... lil off topic but. I think as bluetickers we breed to much within a certain line and worry to much about what we will cross the pups back on, meaning we're breeding more for down the road instead of right now. Also the blue lines are mainly regional instead of national. Btw: days of blueticks being slow and lazy are and have been long gone or they are around these parts anyways and i got the worn out boots to prove it. Guess alot of folks just draw out with the avg blue that joe blow enters and judges em all on him, ive hunted enuff to know not to judge any walker or any hound of another breed on a single dog or even a few from a certain breed or line. Put ya a lil echo or bullet in that spanky stuff chris it worked great before

Perry Ross has one winning in Pkc prety regular. Its a female though. Clyde Murphy has a good blue male in middle Ga...Michael Head does in north ga. I even think his is a SS and performance sire and collected! That's taking it pretty serious. I like that. A Feller that believes in his stud.
