Rule ?

Dog A and Dog B are struck and treed in that order. Dog C is struck in for 50 with a line under it after Dog A and B are treed. Dog C comes into the tree after the cast arrives. Coon is seen. Does Dog C's 50 strike points get minused since he was shut out on strike?

3. Points will be plussed
(d) Dog(s) that are shut out (not struck before first dog
is declared treed) must still be declared struck. They are
eligible for tree points if they are declared treed within
the five minutes. If they are at tree shut out on when
judge arrives, strike points are deleted. For all other situations they are accountable for their strike points.

4. Points will be minused
(d) If dog declared treed, after five minutes has elapsed no
additional dog can be declared treed at that particular tree
but if they come in to tree will get minus on track and nothing on tree if coon is seen

Delete There are two rules that cover this

3. POINTS WILL BE PLUS

3(d) Dog(s) that are shut out (not struck before first dog
is declared treed) must still be declared struck. They are
eligible for tree points if they are declared treed within
the five minutes. If they are at tree shut out on when
judge arrives, strike points are deleted. For all other situations
they are accountable for their strike points.

5. CIRCLED AND DELETED POINTS
Circle points: a & b are circle the rest are deleted

5(g) When dog that is shut out comes into tree shut out on.

Can't minus something that ain't there, there is no strike points there because it is shut out and not eligable for strike points unless it is handled on a different tree.

This rule does not apply here because dog c was stuck after the first dog was treed.
4. Points will be minused
(d) If dog declared treed, after five minutes has elapsed no
additional dog can be declared treed at that particular tree
but if they come in to tree will get minus on track and nothing on tree if coon is seen

I saw the part of the rule "If they are at tree shut out on when judge arrives, strike points are deleted" and didn't read the when the judge arrives part and thought the strike points should be deleted. Then a friend pointed out to me the when the judge arrives part, the dog came in after the judge arrived, and then the next sentence in that rule, "For all other situations they are accountable for their strike points". Now I think he is right but wanted to see what others thought.

it doesn't matter if the dog is handled at that tree he still has no strike points to minus. This situation has been beat to death on here several times and the answer has always been delete. I think your friend is trying to use the quits track and comes in rule here which would only apply if the dog was handled somewhere other than this tree.

If they are at tree shut out on when
judge arrives, strike points are deleted.
For all other situations
they are accountable for their strike points.

The way the rule is worded, if they aren't at the tree when the judge arrives (which the dog came in after he arrived) then they are accountable for their strike points. If the strike points were to be deleted, how does that make the dog accountable for their strike points? That's what I'm trying to figure out.

Got it now. Thanks.

Although the wording in Rule 3(d) does conflict with what is stated in Rule 5(g), Rule 5(g) is the specific rule to apply in this situation.

5. CIRCLED AND DELETED POINTS
5(g) When dog that is shut out comes into tree shut out on.
