Please check out this site!

Has anybody ever used this product? They were talking about it on the English Classifieds. Tell me what you think! They say the food grade is safe to worm dogs and people check out the testimonials, thanks!

http://www.earthworkshealth.com/

Pets: Our best friends come in all shapes and sizes. Protect them with Diatomaceous Earth. When lightly rubbed into their coats or dusted on their premises, it is very effective against fleas, ticks, lice, and other pests on pet dogs, cats, and birds. It can also be used as an organic wormer and will kill any worms or parasites the pets may have. When using as a de-wormer, mix the Diatomaceous Earth into their food as follows:

* Large Cats - 1 teaspoon
* Kittens - 1/4 teaspoon
* Dogs 100 lbs + - 1-2 tablespoons
* Dogs 50 - 100lbs - 1 tablespoon
* Dogs Under 50 lbs - 1 teaspoon
* Mini dogs - 1/2 teaspoon

As pets get older, they also get sore joints. With Diatomaceous Earth in their diet they will feel better. Apply to moist kennel areas to reduce odors, dry the area, and prevent pest breeding. Deodorizing and absorption are natural functions of DE, so add to kitty litter to absorb odors and keep the litter box drier.

I have some of the Mearicle solution wormer/pesticide ordered made from that. I sure hope it works like they say it will. Sounds like some amazing stuff.

Didn't do a thing for the tapes.

I didn't take the dogs dung in to the vet to see if it worked on other worms - I saw tapes in the dung, so I knew it wasn't working.

Once I used a product for Taenia Pisiformis Tapes, problem solved.

As for heartworms, I still treated them using Ivomec.

As for fleas/ticks, I still used my own flea/tick treatment program.

I only used it for regular worming -- not for heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Live in Alabama and wasn't going to take a chance on not using my regular heartworm preventative and flea/tick program to test Diatomaceous Earth.

Would make the it real easy if Diatomaceous Earth was the answer to not having to use different products to worm, flea/tick program, and heartworm preventative.........but be prepared to keep using what your currently using.

Not too scientific

Well I ordered some and I work for environmental health I can do fecal smears and test a dog to see if it works. I will find a positive fecal, give as directed then do weekly to see whats up! I don't believe everything I see or read but I figure it is worth a try will still do the ivomec for heartworm like I always do/

As the D. E. is given in the feed, you will KNOW it is working on the tapeworm, when you see the segments start to pass in the stool.

The Food Grade D.E., is a physical wormer, not chemical. It goes directly through the digestive track, cutting the worms and eggs, as it passes. To get a visual on how it works, imagine yourself eating a bowl full of peanuts......(sorry for that) but you know how that works. What goes in, must come out. As the D.E., enters the intestines, via the digestive track, it cuts the worms, or, through it's negative/postive charge, removes the foreign viruses or bacterias. If you see worms, especially the large tapeworms, you know you are removing them and it is working.

If you give the D.E. and within 24 hours, you do not see worm segments, you still need to give for a minimum of 3-5 days, to completely clear the digestive track.

With it being a physical wormer, it is NOT a preventative wormer. You can have a hound get reinfected on day 4 of treatment. That is why you continue to feed daily untill the worms have completely cleared the stool for 24 hours.

PM me if you have any further questions.....

HTH

Cheers,
Heather Hocker

Heather, I realize your a big pusher and seller of DE --- but you should know that not giving a dog any worm medicines, you will see tapeworm segments passed through in the stool.

Stating that it's working because you see the segment is as much nonsense like your thread on another forum where you posted that DE is approved as a womer by the FDA when it's not.

I know when I solved the tape issues with the dogs when I used a real womer that took care of Taenia Pisiformis Tapes and no longer saw the segments as the DE wasn't getting the job done.

It's an opinion thread on an open forum -- If I feel the need to dispute the opinion of a statement like what was said on how it works, I reckon I will add my opinion Mr. Robinson.

HA HA

You closed my coondawgs account cause my email listed was doug.robinson @kodak.com I retired from Kodak in 2007 and of course when I retired my email account was closed there, I now have my email account with yahoo.com If you recall you closed my account when I posted in 2008 because the email listed under my info was no longer legit thus I no longer worked at Kodak. That was the notification, I guess your memory is bad go check. I never advertised a dog ever on your site, was never banned, but do remember you using pictures of my English Dogs on your site without my permission. You don't even know me. It amazes me you throw accusations around yet you spend so much time on the UKC site and get free advertising, I guess this is the site to be! LOL!

Please explain? We do have a Privacy Statement on the site -- http://www.coondawgs.com/privacy.html -- All pics on CoonDawgs.com were either submitted to us or we contacted the picture owner for permission.

As for banning, your correct, it was Dave Robinson in NJ which was my error.

sounds good to me. i studied up on it and realy like what i read. i'm going to give it a try. i quess it is like everything else in life you realy don't know until you try it. the only way to fairly give an account of any product is use it yourself by the directions given on the label. if it suits you fine and if not fine. everyone has their favorite thing.

Worming

You know worming is a lifelong thing you don't worm a dog and he is set for life. I like the idea it can clean the intestines and that the silica is good for the system. You may have to use your chemical wormer some too but less if the natural stuff works. I think it is worth a try thanks.

will not work on heartworms, has to be internal parasites, anyhting thru the digestive track, as for flea and ticks you need to dust them with it.

product is used in ag for control of parasites in feed grain and such.

we do have it available upon request.

Doug,

You are right about it not being a preventative, as it is just an immediate remover of what is already established. If you were to feed daily, it would work as a preventative, if you choose to go that route.

I had an interesting coversation with one of the Amish guys. He told me that they add it to their dry feed by pouring the feed and the D.E. into a cement mixer. That way they just fed daily without having to mix with water to then pour on the dry feed. Might be a good method for the guys with the large kennels who want to "preventative" worm and dry feed.

HTH...

Cheers,
Heather
