Nite hunt question!

I'm starting to enter my dog in the hunts and I just wanted to know a couple things. First off what do I need to get in order to get my dog a Nite champion title? Like wins and places. Second off what should I look out for? I know alot of people have "me to" dogs around here. So I assume there will be some kind of cheating, I'm only 16 so I need some pointers! Thanks y'all!

Me tooing isn't cheating. Youll learn a lot as you go in the hunts. Just call your dog for what its doing. Youll run into guys that want to win so bad they'll do anything but don't drop to there level. Good luck in the hunts and have fun.

to make nite champion u need a first place win an 100 points total.. u get 40 points for a first place win an 35 for sec an so on.. as for your other question.. get urself a rulebook an practice while ur pleasure hunting.. an remember ,, not everybody is a cheater.. if u get beat by an honest dog.. well u congradulate the man.. an if u get beat by a slick handler.. well u shake his hand too an pray his next hunt he draws 3 more just like him...

I just wanna get my dog a title for what she deserves. I've only ran into one cheater so far. One more question where can I get the rule book? And how much is it?

just ask the MOH. at the next hunt you attend for an extra scorecard, the rules are on the back. A copy of the advisor costs 15.00 and is a good investment if you are serious about competing.
Dont go expecting to be cheated, a beginner with that attitude will be feeling cheated everytime, go to have fun and learn the sport.

competition hunting is great fun for 3 out of 4 casts you will get rooked 1 out of 4 keeping your cool the night you get rooked is something that's hard to do but will help you more than any advice I can give to a newcomer .Put a scorecard by your toilet and read them over and over don't let the rest of the cast know you are a newcomer by talking too much just call your dog .strike him when he strikes tree him when he trees there are plenty of handler mistakes you will make we all do this you will get better with experience don't forget to have fun its just a game

Study the rules so that you are familiar with them but even more important than that is Study your Dog so that you know every bark it makes and what it means. Dogs will tell you so much about what they are doing if you pay attention and listen to them. Go out support your local clubs and have fun. You will run into more good people than bad out there.

This is my own personal rule for myself but i think it works and that is be a gracious looser and always congratulate the winner and be very humble when you do win, nobody likes it when they loose but it makes it much worse when the winner is rubbing it in. Always be a good Sportsman and , win loose or draw always do it in a respectfull and honorable way.
