I feel that making a change to the rules is an adaptive process and leaving it up to the breed associations is not always the best way. With that being said, all the rules that people want changed are not always going to work as good as they think. UKC has had the same scoring process for a long time. Does the best dog always win? No, but being beat by a lesser dog does not happen that often. Most of the time it is a handler error, dogs not working together and just burning up time, or just one bad drop. Let's be honest and most people show up at the hunts and think they have the best hound on the grounds but in really they are leading a dog that is just average. When they get beat so we need to change a rule or we need to do away with this or that. Changing rules do to technology is one thing but changing the rules to fit the hound is another. Most people who complain and want the rules changed would want them changed again when they start hunting a new dog. There are several KC's where the rules are all different and you have your choice to hunt the one you like the most. If all the KC's were the same with the same rules then why have an option, you wouldn't need it.
